What happened is they are playing to their full potential. They are last and that is where they belong. At this rate, they will be 41-121 and they will have set a new standard which is what they desire.
The 41-121 type chatter was heard a lot last year. In fact I believe I heard the Nats would be the worst team in the history of baseball. It didn't happen last year, and I really doubt it will happen this year.
They have lost games in ways that are unimaginable.
Starting Pitching, hitting, relief. Did you know that they are 0-14 with one rbi with the bases loaded?
Manny is starting to change things up a bit. I see Lopez is leading off and playing second thats a good thing.
Lannen pitched great the other night--No hitting.
Tonight--Hill had a three run lead that should have been 6-0. No support.
Changes in the future? Look right now Zimmerman is not a 3 hole hitter. Move Johnson to 3--Move Pena to 4. Or just move Milledge to 3.
Why is Flores in the Minors?
Its time to find a RF. Our Right fielder is not hitting his weight. (tonight he deove in 2 whoopee)
Bottom line is that the NATS are not on a 2009 competitive schedule. We are going to have to add another year. And its not the pitching. Right now I see Zim, Milledge, Flores and maybe Johnson in our first playoff game lineup. Were missing two .300 hitters a lead off man and a clean up man.
I think there are a lot of positives for this team. And I agree with the posters who say they will be good in the future. What I'm not liking is the amount of errors, and at times, it appears the players are not really playing attention to the game. In the past series against the Marlins there were some really bone headed plays. I do however think it is all correctable, and I still look for a team that can compete this year.
Dude, I agree completely; I have a question. Am I the only one who has a problem with Lo Duca. I mean after this guy was in the Mitchell Report, he has been anything but awesome. I was at the Nats Marlins game last week and he made several bone headed mistakes. Someone please convince me otherwise, but hitting .200 and getting $5 mil/yr doesn't work for me. I was almost happy to see him go on the DL, not that I want to see anyone hurt.
I don't remember Lo Duca being especially bad, but that does not mean it didn't happen. I always liked Schneider, but to be honest, I thought we may have stepped up at that position. I also thought we were moving up at first, left and center, so I expected to be better than last year. I still hope to be right. I'll pay more attention to Lo Duca.
Well, we are lucky the whole division is really playing sub average or else this season would be already lost. We need to string together some wins and get back into the division race.
Do I think the Nationals are going to win the NL East? No, but I do think we can make it tough for our rivals and finish 3rd. We just cant be going 3-15...
I love the optimism here, but the fact is that this team sucks. In order to become competetive, they need to bring in some real players and spend some money. These guys. Did you ever see Major League the movie? " They're $hitty "
The Nationals just took game 1 from the Braves. I believe that is 5 wins in the last 7 games, including 2 of 3 from the Cubs. While I think the team has a lot of issues, the call for 100 losses may be a little early.
