Weigh in, Wild fans.  Is it time for the Wild to Kihnsider a new coach?

The final straw for me was his explanation for putting the checking line out there for the first Wild power play in game 6.  Supposedly, he was guarding against the Avalanche's tendency to put the Sakic line in toward the end of the power play.  Excuse me?!  I know Lemaire is a defense-first coach, but this is taking it way too far -- what kind of escargothead guards against anything when having the man advantage?!  The whole idea of a power play is to make the other team guard against you!  No wonder our power play is so flaccid (not that putting Kim Johnsson out there helps any, but I digress...)

The thing that bothers me about Lemaire is he always coaches his style. Coaches are supposed to adapt their styles to the players they have on the bench. Either Risebrough should get Lemaire the players he needs or we should get a coach that will use our offensive guys offensively.

I voted it is time for LeMaire to go. He has been a great coach, he probably gets in the Hall as a coach also. That being said I think it's time for him to go.  Ideally I guess one would want to intercange lines but sometimes players can benefit from stability. He seems to have lost some of his players, and by players I mean the Demetras and Gaboriks. They say a coach can only coach a team for so long before the team turns off some of his ideas. I think LeMaire has reached that point. Finally, I want to see the game opened up. I'm tired of the trap.

After a few days to let it sink in, I'm not that dissapointed anymore. I think the Wild outplayed the Avs most of series. Theodore played out of his mind. Maybe if it was a new 7 game series the Wild would win. We did win the division.

CarpShade - in no way did the Wild outplay the Avs.  I think the Wild had the lead for something like four and a half minutes - the entire series!  Every game I watched just saw Minnesota players firing long slap shots, getting blocked by the Avalanche defenders and never even making it to the goal.

I'm abstaining from voting here though...its a tough call.  I'd like to see a change in strategy - but who would they get to replace him?

I say its time for a change. Yes hes a great coach, yes hes won cups as a player, as well as a coach. His defensive style is great with a lead, but you must first obtain a lead in order to have a successful lockdown. That being said, I think a really offensive coach should be in order. I cant put a name to that tag, but thats what we need. We have LeMaire's defense instilled in all of our current players, it's not like it would go out the door if he were to leave. So by bringing in a more offensive coach we would have the defensive skills we need, and gain the offensive skills we want. We also NEED those offensive skills. Sense we right smack dab in the middle o' the country, we need to play tight defense like the west, and get goal horny like the east. You cant be both at the same time, but we need to lean the tower back a little more towards the offensive side, which would seem to suit some of our players(ahem, Gaborik). For me, change it is.

I voted that it is time to see about a new coach.  Don't get me wrong, I think Lemaire is a great coach and has had a great career, but he seems to be stuck in his ways.  In this horrible series the Wild did not seem to adapt to any of the changes that the Avs were making.  It was already said, but it was very frustrating watching the Wild players take the big slapper that got blocked (the last number I heard of blocked shots was like 60).  The Avs knew exactly what the Wild were going to do on the power play (if you can call it that), but the Wild seemed to keep running the same one.

I think this is a reflection on Lemaire and it is time for a change.  I cannot stand being in Minnesota and watching another pro team barely get to the playoffs or win the division and go out in the first round.  It is really getting old.

I love  Lemaire, and always will. But i think it's time for a new coach. I found myself questioning many moves he pulled off this year. I wouldn't mind seeing Mike Ramsey take over the head coach.
