Strike a trade(s) NOW, while the iron is hot!!

You say you want Brian Roberts? Well no better time than now. His stock is down (slightly) hitting .250 / .333 OBP. If the O's still want a SS why not Cedeno his stock is up .345/.406 along with Sean Marshall and Sean Gallagher. If it takes Felix Pie why not, his stock is down (even further) .206/.250.

While we are at it lets go get Erik Bedard as his stock is down, 1-0 3.27 ERA on the 15-day DL. We can trade Ryan Dempster (his stock it way up) along with Murton and 1 or 2 promising minor league pitchers, heck we might consider Jon Lieber or even Rich Hill as his stock is down (but not as much as Bedard's)

How about Carl Crawford? His stock is also down, .276/.289. I'm sure we have something the Rays need. Man, can you imagine Crawford in a Cubs uniform?

Here is 3 players we have all talked (drooled) about all Winter long. Now is the time to go and get them (while their stock is down and ours is up).

ummm....Seattle traded for Bedard.

If Carl Crawford came to the Cubs and had a .276/.289, he wouldn't be playing and everyone on the board would say he was a bust.  Pie is basically a raw version of Crawford, but way better defensively, so we might as well just stick with that.

Roberts would be a good trade.  He always has been, but for now, they can stick with what they've got.  Plus the Orioles are sort of in it right now.

They could use one more bench guy when the times comes, but that time probably isn't right now.  And who knows what will happen with injuries.

I think your right.  With the Orioles still kind of in it I dont think they are going to deal.  I do feel that as soon as the O's fall out of it (or start to) that they WILL deal Brian Roberts to the Cubs.  As long as we keep playing this way I think our front office will have to bring in those couple of spots that need to be filled if they want to make a run come October.  Lets hope for the best and keep winning ballgames!  Playing some good baseball right now!  STOKED!  Go Cubs!

Dear Milwaukee,

None of that will happen because none of those guys are available! What's more is that if they were the Cubs would have to give up a lot more to get them. Trading takes more than just one person deciding that they want someone else's guys. Do yourself a favor and keep your ridiculous ideas to yourself.

Why mess  with what is working.  I know it is very early, but why mess with the chemistry right now?  I like the depth and flexibility of this team and it has proven to be a strength of the team.  As for injuries, it is unlikely that the pitching staff stays healthy and it is nice to know both Lieber and Marshall can jumpin at any time.

Dear Pfish,

Your team's bullpen is a GIANT SUCKFEST!! And Mark Prior north is hurt AGAIN!! The Brewers are a good team but not good enough with all the injuries and sucking. It will be a good battle to the end but don't be a homer.

Do yourself a favor and keep your ridiculous ideas to yourself.

Come on, get into the spirit of things. Besides, this isn't necessarily my idea. I have read (on these boards) all Winter about how the Cubs: A) Never develop any position players B) Always trade a prospect after their value has already declined (see A), and C) Don't have nearly enough pitching.

JO74 is into the spirit...Pie is a bust. Cedeno was a bust 2 years ago (still could be but hey, he is hot right now so trade him). :)

Obiviously Jazzman was reading the same posts. How much fun would it be to go back into the archives and start naming names?
