I just realized...

It looks like the coaching staff is betting on:

  1)      Gus Gilchrist, the freshman, stepping in and making big contributions;

  2)      Dupree and/or Burney improving a lot; and

.

  3)      Possibly getting last second JC transfer if a scholarship frees up;

.

to provide a post presence.

It doesn't give the appearance of a well thought out and smoothly executed plan.  It does seem a bit risky, but time will tell.

Gary is not fond of the 3 or 4 guard system, so he's looking at using some 5 guard sets.   The opponents will really be thrown off.  LM will make a great defender of the 5 spot, until Gus is eligible in the spring. 

I expect Burney and Dupree to get baptism by fire, but I honestly do expect smaller line-ups with LM and Tucker guarding the smaller teams' 4 man.  I'm not really that worried about it because I look forward to a more athletic, quicker line-up.
