Who would you like to see back in a Red Sox uni (of players currently playing)?

I listed a few, and I'm sure there are many others.  Pedro hasn't done much since he left.  Clement hasn't played in two years.  Damon is a F*%#in' Yankee.  Both Snachezs (Freddy & Anibal) have shown promise.  Lowe has done well in LA.

My choice is Kapler.  I always loved how he played hard.  Is he an everyday player - probably not.   But ever team needs someone like him who can fill in.  He has started the season off well w/ the Brewers.  A close second is Lowe.  Granted he kind of wore out his welcome, but he would help the pitching staff w/ Shilling out (for how long?) and Beckett (health?).  We are going to take some lumps with the youngs guys, but Lowe would add a proven veteran that would be a good 3rd or 4th.

Let me know wht you think and the guys that I didn't list.

Truthfully Docman, I would love to have Nomar back. Not because he is amazing right now, but because he brought something to the Red Sox that everyone loved. He held himself with passion and love for the game. He had his years, most of which are gone now, but he had his years that showed what he was made of. I'm not saying he would start every game (or for that matter even play that much) but I think it would be a really great throw-back. Nomar will always be one of my favorite Sox players.

GO SOX!!!!!

And just saying, none of this is based on what I actually think, which is that bringing back Nomar would not be the smartest managing decision right now. It is all based on how I feel about Nomar.

bosoxfan27 - I can't believe I forgot Nomar.  There has just been so much happen since he has been gone.  Good call - he should always be remembered as a Red Sox.

You listed both players lost through free agency, and via trade. So I need to know what the rules are here... do you get the player back without having to give anything up? Or if the player was traded away (take Bronson Arroyo for example) would you then have to return the player you got in exchange? In Arroyo's case it doesn't matter, because I don't think there is a Red Sox fan out there who wouldn't give back Wily Mo Pena (not that we can now) to get him back.

Biggest free agent loss on that list would have to be Derek Lowe, he was always a bit of a head case but he was one of the biggest reasons we won in 2004, and he continues to be a very solid pitcher for the Dodgers. No doubt we could use him before guys like Curt Schilling, Tim Wakefield, Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, or Bartolo Colon (I'm not knocking our guys here, but Lowe RIGHT NOW is a better pitcher).

Biggest name NOT on your list is Hanley Ramirez. SS is a big position of weakness for us, and Ramirez is one of the best young players in the game and one of my favorite players. If we could get him back without having to return Josh Beckett (which is why I questioned the rules earlier) it is the first thing I would do. We could debate back and forth forever on who got the better end of that trade with the Marlins... but I'd say its pretty even.

Bradyard - no rules involved.  If we traded someone, we do not have to return the palyer we received.  Just a simple if we could have them back,no strings attached, who would you want.

you forgot the biggest one of all of them, Hanley Ramirez who we traded for Beckett.  Obviously we got the better deal cuz we would have not won the championship without him but this is hypothetical.  He is probably in the top 5 for shortstop and that would be awesome to have since Lugo isnt anything great.  Besides him it would be Orlando Cabrera, and probably Pedro because he was one of the reasons i first became a Red Sox fan.
