My biggest question on this entire tape if it exists is that there needs to be definitive proof that the Patriots personnel authorized it or if he was just a rogue taper, just like Walsh has already been proven to secretly tape conersations with Scott Pioli, or did BB authorize that too?

Answer - DOES NOT MATTER.  Matt Walsh was an employee and an employer (the Pats) is always responsible for an employees actions, regardless if they had permission or not.

Where is the rule stating is it illegal to video tape another teams walkthrough?

BackAndGold18,

Bend over and take a look.  It's probably there right next to your brain.  What?  You think the Commish answers to you?

Per section 3(a) of the agreement:
"If the NFL disputes that any actions other than Covered Videotaping Actions were within the scope of Walsh's employment by the Club (i.e., duties and responsibilities assigned to Walsh by superiors or performed by Walsh at the direction of superiors during the time of his employment by the Club or otherwise reasonably expected to be performed in the ordinary course by a person with his responsibilities), Walsh shall bear the burden of proof on this issue by a preponderance of the evidence."

We aren't privy to all the rules that the NFL has in place, so there might be something against it that we'll never see.  Regardless, if they did it they should be punished for it.  I personally do not believe they did.

There is NO RULE against video taping an opposing teams walkthrough.  Matt Walsh would be held responsible if the Patriots organization didnt give him direct orders to do it.

So therefor, that guy who is still holding onto his Ravens Super Bowl win years ago is 0-2 and needs to know what he is talking about before trying to put somebody else down.  BTW your team still sucks.

BlackAndGold18,

What position do you hold in the NFL?  Are you the Commish's secretary or something because apparently you now every rule every made.

If it wasn't against the rules then how come the commish said that if this is substantiated the Pats WILL be punished, not Walsh?

So if i go out today and rob a bank my employer should be held responsible?

Using your logic, Arthur Blank should be sharing a jail cell with Michael Vick.

Even if there isn't a rule on taping, the NFL will still do something about this b/c it  concerns the integrity of the league. That is a very serious matter. People want to know the games are being played fairly. They can't sweep this under the rug. BTW the NFL does have rules about "scouting" another team. What they can and can't do.

So if i go out today and rob a bank my employer should be held responsible? That's warping sound logic. It's not going to work in this case.

"That's warping sound logic. It's not going to work in this case.  "

How is his logic sound?   His exact statement was that an employer is responsible for an employee's behavior, whether they knew about it or not.

Using his logic, the Patriots are to be held accountable for Matt Walsh taping the Rams' walkthrough, even if they didn't authorize it, knew nothing about it and didn't use the tapes.  Does that sound fair to you?
