How would a big guy who can bang and score in the paint not be a top 10 pick? Joakim Noah was a Top 10 pick and he wasn't half the player coming out of college that Hansbrough is. I don't buy this nonsense that he would go late in the first round or later.
Noah was more than half the player than hansbrough was, he helped carry his team to back to back titles which is more than Hansbrough will ever do. Although I respect his toughness and resilience, his scrappiness will not help him against the likes of Dwight Howard.
He is not athletic or strong enough to be as successful at the pro level. He'll play for ten years in the league, but he'll be a reserve for all of them.
pffft, whatever. yeah, dwight howard will be tough, but he won't play dwight howard every game. he might actually be able to hang in with howard though. to say that "noah was more than half the player hansbrough is" is a joke. the entire florida team won those championships. everyone remembers noah because he was so animated and annoying. he was a non-factor in the 2 championship game. it's more of "his team carried him." admit it- you'd love to have hansbrough on your team, and if he was, you wouldn't be making the same baseless arguments you're making now.
Hansbrough wont be able to hang with most big men in the NBA. Look at the size of players he's facing in college then look at them in the NBA. Exactly. That's why he's staying for another year. He's scared.
Tyler Hansbrough is not scared. His situation reminds me of Matt Leinart. He's more interested in enjoying college, than going pro. He's not scared of the athlete's on the pro level, he's got Peter Pan syndrome. He's taking advantage of one more year of being an immature college kid. Once you enter the NBA or NFL, the pressure to perform is high and almost everything you do is scrutinized.
Tyler should be picked around 15th when he does come out. If he goes later in the first round than that, the team that picks him is getting a bargain. Chicago was stupid to pick Noah at #10. Just because he's a couple of inches taller doesn't make him a better player, but that's why he was picked so soon. Hansbrough size is between small forward and power forward, but he already has a better offensive game than Noah will ever have. He just needs to improve his outside shot and ball handling so he can play forward at the next level.
You can't compare him to Joakim Noah. Noah was coming off back to back national titles. His stock was high from that alone. And his game still has room to improve (upside) and his effectiveness isn't predicated to him scoring a lot. He defends, rebounds and does the little things that obviously teams loved enough to draft him that high. Noah averaged 6.6 points & 5.6 rebounds per game (74 games). Just a guy who blend in and help you win just like another Gator in the NBA, Udonis Haslem (he reminds me a lot of him). Haslem does the dirty work while averaging 12 points & 9 rebounds per game. I see Noah averaging those same numbers at some point. If Hansbrough isn't giving you 20/10, then what can he contribute to a team? I just think most teams don't think his game will translate well at the next level. He'll be a high pick by default next season. Don't get me wrong, Hansbrough is no bum & has some skills but take a look at the starters at PF in the NBA-
Abdur-Rahim (Sac), Aldridge (Por), Norwitzki (Dal), Boone (NJ), Boozer (Uta), Bosh (Tor), Brand (LAC), Duncan (SA), Evans (Phi), Garnett (Bos), Gooden (Chi), Harrington (GS), Scola (Hou), Horford (Atl), Jamison (Was), Jefferson (Min), Martin (Den), Randolph (NY), Wallace (Det), Gasol (LAL), Wallace (Cle), West (NO), Wilcox (Sea), O'Neal (Ind), Villanueva (Mil), Okafor (Cha), Turkoglu (Orl), Warrick (Mem), Stoudamire (Pho), Haslem (Mia)
It will be tough for Hansbrough to excel is all I'm saying.
size of nba players? hansbrough may be a bit short, but there are many highly successful 6'8 power forwards in the nba. and hansbrough is by no means a stick figure either.
the reason he wont be successful, as of now, is he plays short and unathletic. hes not unathletic, but he plays that way. he shoots low and goes into contact. elite nba defenders will be able to swat him too often. and hansbrough hasnt developed his jumpshot enough to keep them honest.
he's not "psyhco T" because he's the idiot at the frat party doing keg stands and drinking til he passes out. he worked his butt off to get where he is now..... the best player in college. it took him a couple of years to learn to play college ball and it will take him a couple of years to adapt to the nba. he gives it his all on and off the court. he's staying to improve his jumpshot and to put more size on. top 5 pick next year!!!!!
i think he knows that he will not be good in the nba as peoples think so he wants to stay in college where he can flop when a guard hits him and still get the call people in the nba is just going to run over him and keep on running
The best (and only) way to compare where someone will go in this year's draft is to compare him to this year's players. Most have him going later (some much later) than 10th.
