Hopefully we now have our franchise QB, hopefully Gruden doesn't do to him what he did to Gradkowski, and who do you think he compares to in the league now?

Other than the interview, I think he's an amazing talent. I think he should have been drafted in the top 3-4 rounds. I mean Jim Harbaugh said he's ace the SAT of football. Even though he probably scored a 400 on the acedemic SAT... but who cares.

Given all the trading down, it looks more and more like GruAllen may get their QB, Josh Johnson.
Evel... did Gruden really mention this guy before the draft?
I thought I remembered him talking about a few QB's.

Gradkowski proved right off the bat that he was worthless when he got hit the first time. He was nothing more than a practice QB. Also, Bruce didn't have any time to develop! Chris Simms lost his spleen and the season was OVER. Turned out Gradkowski wasn't as accurate as Gruden thought, and he locked onto one receiver.
According to scouts, Josh Johnson compares to Randall Cunningham. I disagree. Based on the highlights I saw, he's faster than Cunningham. With the right teaching and development, he might be our QB in 1-2 years. As long as he sits as the 3rd guy and learns from Garcia and NOT Griese, he should be fine.

Okay. This pick saved the draft a little. Here's my breakdown of the picks. I ain't an expert, but it's just my opinion.
- Talib- Um, people are comparing him to Sapp with the drug thing. There's a difference. Sapp was accused, Talib was proven. That really worries me. He doesn't look like he has great speed. On the Toyota Sports Connection, they kept showing a highlight of him getting beat on a route and the QB under-throwing it. I am not mad about the pick, I'm just not sure he will be a better pick than Jenkins.
- Jackson-Good pick. I really like this pick actually. He is a good returner and runs a sub 4.4 40. He tore up Michigan and is the WR on the markey play of that game other than the blocked FG. When he catches it across the middle and out runs every wolverine.
- Zutah- Worst pick this team has made so far. We don't need more lineman. Especially a guard, especially with a 3rd pick. We have Penn that can play tackle if there's an injury or petiguo depending on which one is starting. Lehr just got a big contract and he can play guard and center. This pick really doesn't make sense.
- Moore- I would like this pick better if i didn't think that Douglas or Carter could play DT. I thought we should've got moore in the 3rd but we got him in the 4th so I think it's a good pick.
- Johnson- I love this kid. He reminds me of Vince Young but a better thrower. Granted, he played against weaker competition, but 1 pic is 1 pic. This kid could be the future and if he's not, it was a 5th round pick.
I still think that a running back would help. We have no speed at tail back. Graham is a power-back. Caddy is a ? because of his injury. Dunn is done. I don't see much in him any more. Anyone know if theres any speed backs left?

Says Bucs coach Jon Gruden of San Diego QB Josh Johnson, “He’s going to play in the league. I’m convinced of that."
He said this on multiple boards about a guy that was a projected 5-6th rounder. It's like we were looking at his cards.

Ahhh, good ole Doug Williams. Man, I tell you what, the Glazer's have done a great job at providing great consultants for the Bucs organization.
Lets be honest, we have a good front office. We just needed a franchise QB and an offensive line. You have to have that in place before WR's and RB's are worth a damn anyways.
Worst case scenario, Johnson becomes a great back-up QB that can be effective in the emergency role (not immediately, but in a few years).
