I still can't believe the Vikings trade up, seemingly to take Brohm, then take Tyrell Johnson.

But the Lions and Bears just showed how terrible their front offices are  so I feel a little better.

The Aaron Rodgers era was going to end in week 1 when he gets injured for the season anways. And this is from a Packers fan.

The guy just can't stay healthy, he has been injured everytime he was given the chance to play. Or maybe we Packers fans were just spoiled with Brett Favre and expect everybody to play every game.

According to the Packers GM, no matter what QB they take, Rodgers is starting. However, if he gets hurt (very likely) we don't have to worry about having a bad backup QB because we have Brian Brohm. I just knew the Packers were going to get him.

I am certainly extremely happy that the Packers ended up getting Brian Brohm.  I don't think it means the end of the Aaron Rodgers era though.  Rodgers was as highly or more highly touted than Brohm coming out of college.  He also has the advantage of having spent three years on the sidelines watching the Packers offense and getting to know the players he will be in the huddle with.  He proved that he is capable of playing in the NFL this year against the Cowboys.  Rodgers is more ready to give starting in the NFL a go than Brohm is.

What Brohm gives the Packers is a second chance in case Rodgers continues to be hurt often or if it turns out that his performance against the Cowboys was a fluke and he really is a bust.  I think that the Packers believe they have enough talent to make a playoff run if they have a competent quarterback.   They just put themselves in an excellent situation.  Put all of your eggs in the Rodgers basket.....your solid young team can change from a playoff contender to rebuilding if he fails.  Divide the eggs amongst two players.....you have a much better shot of being competitive.

I agree Carnage. The Cowboys will be screwed if Romo goes down. IMO anyways

I initially didn't like the Brohm pick, but the more opinions I read and the more I think about it the more I like it. As I said on the draft thread we add competition at every other position to make that position stronger through competition so why not at QB? My problem is that QB is a bit different because the guy is supposed to be our leader. Does it detract from a players ability to lead a team if he is constantly looking over his shoulder? For me the Jury is out on this one.
