When I heard this pick at the Draft, I was disappointed.  We could have chosen Kelly, Jackson, Sweed, or Thomas ahead of him.  Then, I saw his highlights, and they were pretty good.  He also runs a 4.34 40, which is really good.  He will be a better fit under Holt and Bennet, and will eventually contend for the #2 receiver position.

I DONT QUESTION THIS PICK. i happen to agree with you on how effective avery will be in 08. In fact, I think that two of the reasons Rams have been so inconsistent is because of key losses ( i consider) in WR Az- hakim and Grant Wistrom at DE, two spots the rams just filled. Funny the rams may have been two spots away from multiple title runs.

Agreed. I'm with you!!! I did not think the draft was an A or even an B for our Rams. The Avery pick had me perplexed, and then the Greco pick had me throwing burritos against the wall.

IKNOWALOT i really like your love for the Rams but you say some crazy things. hakim lost us games. grant wristom was the man i cant lie but the rams r not to pieces away from title runs. they lost the heart warner had that is not being refilled by bulger. i think bulger is a great quarterback but warner had a love for the game. arenas williams left dre bly left. two very good corners. london flecther had a brilliant career i really give us atleast another year

I personally rated our entire draft as a b-/c+. I hope Avery pans out and develops into a high quality receiver... I'm not sure how likely that is when the guy was known as a one trick pony in college... a deep threat only.... and that was while playing for Houston... its not like he did this against top competetion. again I hope the pick pans out.
we did nothing in the draft to help our linebacker unit. Both the kids taken in the 7th look to be tweener weakside linebacker/ strong safety guys. If the Rams were wanting a linebacker like that they could of drafted Ali Highsmith from LSU who ended up signing a free agent deal with the Cardinals.
Both the o-line picks could end up being really good. Getting a solid guard like schuenning that late was a gift.... Incognito can't stay healthy and I wouldn't be surprised if schuenning gets a lot of playing time @ RG.
Of course Chris Long was a solid pick. Hopefully Avery doesn't end up being another Brian Leonard..... an insane pick in the second. We could of gotten CB Brandon Flowers, LB/DE Quentin Groves, LB Dan Connor, QB Chad Henne and Brian Brohm or ANY other wr with that second pick.
The big weaknesses look to be @ outside linebacker, CB & SS, and backup qb....gimme a break... one flick in the ear and Trent Green will be on IR(he should of retired)...... we best find a young qb to develop after training camp on the waiver wire.

If Avery is that fast and that tough, then we could have a Steve Smith type player in 3 years people.  Not bad.  But then again, he could be a bust and never even make the team.

Who knows?

If avery becomes a bust. i will be very made and protest the Rams scouts until they get new 1s. what happened to that guy who noticed pace and fletcher and wawrner and holt and bly. we had great draft classes until we drafted trung canidate then our draft classes have ben just terrible
