With the last pick, the Vikings got Jaymar Johnson. He is kinda small, but is one of the quickest and most shifty WR in the class. Very Explosive.

He was the BEST in his class in the...

3 cone drill
20 yard shuffle
60 yard shuffle

This tells us he has VERY great quickness. He must also have very good acceleration, and very good top end speed.

From what i've heard this might be a steal. he's very fats and had 66 catches for 1140 and 9 TDs. It is also like a 17.5 YPC and this guy could be a big pick for us.

but we must be careful with our praise, for we drafted a very fast reciever one other time and gave him much praise and now hes with the Jaguars and he sucks.  (Troy Williamson)

Except for the loser they picked from Florida State ( I have no idea what they were thinking here ) and the fact that they didn't address the OL, I feel the Vikes did real well. I am very happy with all the other picks. I can't wait to see how dominate the D will be and to get another season of excitement from AD! I wish the season was starting next Sunday! Go Vikes!

vikinyhawk they drafted Sullivan the center from Notre Dame for the O-Line. Letroy Guion looks good as well, he was rated as a 2-3 round pick and could develop into a very good player.  I really like the John David Booty pickup becuase he is NFL ready so could possibly even come in and play this year if necessary.

Jaymar Johnson just sounds like one of those players that could be a late round star. I like the pick because when your team is pretty sound with both players and backups its great to use late round picks on players that could turn out like a Colston.

On ESPN.com they had a poll asking who had the best draft in the NFC North, and we were rated top dog just over the Packers.  Its amazing because we had a great draft without a First rounder or our 2 3rd round picks.  And on top of everything we got the leader in sacks from last year, who happens  to be only 26 years old.

Man we got one scary defense

Yes, you are right about Sullivan, how silly of me and i expect him to take over for Birk who is basically done after the 08 season, but I disagree tremendously with you on Guion. The guy is a total loser and you will see that when he doesn't make the team after training camp. When you say he was rated as a 2nd or 3rd round pick????????? Who exactly is this doing the ratings?? Obviously, no other team believed that rating! As far as comparing Johnson to Colston, that is like comparing apples to oranges as they are not even close to the same type of WR, especially in size. We can only hope that Johnson makes an impact as a KR, as our best one is gone to the Steelers and was never used properly. I will miss Moore.

This is by far my favorite pick of the draft, especially that we drafted him in the later rounds. He will be a work in progress for the first half of the season until he learns how to read defensive coverages and learns the WCO of the Vikings, but make no mistake this guy will succeed big time in our offence once he is coached at the NFL level.

Here is what we do know, he has good hand, likes to block for running backs, and unlike Desean, he's not affraid to cut accross the middle. He is not going to used has a deep threat, he's not big enough but he will be used on screens, in routes, crossing routes and down the middle routes. He will become T-Jacks favourite target once he learns more about coverages and proper route running. This guy is fast and quick and will be the next Wes Welker only better and faster. I know I'm getting really excited about this late round kid but, when he's ready to join our offence has a slot or mid route reciever he will open up things that we haven't seen in a long while.  I CAN"T WAIT

Until then we will probabley see him on special teams.

Easy there hutch, I agree that this could end up being a great sleeper pick, but he's got to make the team first.  There is no doubt that he is fast, and I am impressed with his hands, but like you said, he needs NFL coaching.  He has to learn to make reads and adjust his routes, but he has to be able to run effective routes first.  Also, we don't know if he can take a hit yet.  It would suck to send him across the middle just to get labotomized by Urlacher and wheeled off on a cart.  I personally believe that he will make the team, but it will take some time (possibly years) before he is a good NFL receiver.

Jaymer Johnson has a very good shot of making the team, mainly because the depth at receiver in Minnesota is not very good, After Bernard Berrian and Sidney Rice and maybe Bobby Wade in his natural position in the slot there is no one.  Robert Ferguson may not even make the team out of the preseason if this kid shines which he can very well do.  He has good hip movement, good agility and quickness, and his hands are pretty good.  The biggest thing that stands out to me is that he runs routes better then most small school wides do.  This was a good pick by the Vikings and if he does not pan out it is not a major loss like Williamson, because one was a first rounder the other a sixth.

The pick of Letroy Guion was a good one actually.  He only saw limited time at FSU and he made the best of the time he saw by getting after the quarterback.  Minnesota definately does not need him to come in and play right away anyways, they may not need him for a few years.  While he is on the team for those few years he can learn from some of the best defensive linemen in the league. He has the frame to be a good DT in this league he can add the size. He did get in trouble for some cheating in college but he is among the majority of college students that cheat, not the minority.

There was a comment about Minnesota losing their top returner to the Steelers. That maybe true but they did sign Marice Hicks as a return specialist, be is definately not going to be among the leading rushers on the team.  Along with Hicks, Aundrae Allison will also be a good returner for Minnesota.

Mr. McNutterbean

I agree he'll need time and still has to make the team. The excitement is about the Vikings addressing,in my opinion, the biggest void on offence with a player who has the skill set to adresss it. T-Jack took alot of heat last year when alot of the times our recievers were unable to gain separation from there defender. I loved the way the Patriots used Welker, they already had Moss and Stallworth on the outside and used Welker to move the chains and YAC for a big play if it happened. We have Berrian and Rice on the outside and Allison for depth we really needed a short route/inside reciever with speed and quickness to keep the LB's back from the line and give our QB a quick release point when the blitz was coming. His learning curve should be much less than a normal WR has he would probabley only run a few routes and find open space in coverages just like Welker was used by Pats. Whether he makes the team or not we will find out but what he did in college at a small school is exactly the type of reciever we need. Some people really like Wade, I'm not one of them. Wade is an average reciever but really doesn't have the quickness to separate that's needed and it showed last year.

Hutch , while I respect your opinion , I can't fully agree with you . First , I do think Jaymar Johnson was a good pick , not any where near the risk that Troy Williamson was , and therefore , not any where near the loss if he doesn't pan out . . . However , he does have one thing Williamson does NOT have ; the ability to catch the ball . . . Now your comparisome with Wes Welker , is a little off . F
