you're right. I was also wondering why no one picked up Erin Henderson, I thought he was ranked third behind Keith Rivers and Jerod Mayo? I hope if they don't get drafted, Eagles will pick em up as free agents, no harm in that. Any team that picks them up I think is getting a steal.
There have been a few guys that fell through. Illinois' Jay Lehmen and LSU's Highsmith are both great physical linebackers that in my opinion were at least 3rd round talent. I just don't know how guys that sniff out the ball as well as they do don't get drafted.
I'm an LSU fan and I know Hisghsmith can play. He ran a very slow 40 at the combine and at the LSU senior day - that must have scared teams off. As a middle linebacker I wouldn't call him slow though...I just don't get it either.
Alot of times its better to NOT get drafted late in the draft. Then as a free agent you can find the best spot for yourself, increasing your chances at sticking around. Highsmith will find somewhere to play, same with Tommy Blake.
As for Henderson, the problem with his ACL is...he's missing it....I'm pretty sure that's a problem! No team is willing to take that chance on a draft pick with a guy who's missing an ACL!
I really hope that he is picked up by the Saints. I watched him play all last year and know that he is much better than most people thinks. I don't know why he wasn't drafted, but he plays much faster than his 40 time shows.
Ali Highsmith is trying out for the Cardinals. He had a bad combine and is considered 'smallish' by NFL standards. He still has good quickness and been productive, so he'll probably make the roster.
Darrell Robertson tore a pectoral muscle while training for the combine. Trying out with Dallas. Probably needs to gain some weight (currently 245) or learn the outside linebacker position. Might have been better suited for a 3-4 defense as a linebacker.
