That is the poll!!

Considering we're the EXPERTS on booing, there is an issue of booing at Shea.

Freedom Of Speech, a paying customer, etc. dictates any and all booing is acceptable.

NYM fans care MORE about their team, which justifies them in booing more than any other MLB team.  I like this Mets' fan's thinking:  they can boo the most, and knock Phillies' fans for booing.

Santana got booed at Shea after he was replaced in the 7th inn. w/ 2 outs, none on and down 5-2 after giving up 3 bombs to MIL in his FIRST start at home.

ONLY an example, not a wish-we-got-him-blah-blah-blah or Anti-Mets thread:

If he was a PHILLIE at The Bank in that situation, what would you do?

you have to take in that the Mets had the worst collapse in baseball history, and no one was really held accountable for it. While the Phillies had one of the greatest comebacks in baseball history. If Johan came in 07 and pitched like that I highly doubt he would've gotten booed after the Mets came off a game 7 nlcs appearance. mets fans are very negative right now, I can't blame us, were very ansy and just waiting for the shoe to drop. Oh and one more thing, why does Hamels always cry when he faces the Mets?

SCOBA,

WOW !!  Strong and long booing?

Oh, I can understand the fans booing, the media putting the spotlight on the team, the suits confronting a marketing disaster w/ Fred's words of a WS Entry in '08 as a MINIMUM !!  Getting swept in the '08 WS, and any of the above would clap?  LOL !!!

BTW, I answered your Hamels dig on the other thread, but it is nice to see you offer more than a dig-and-run:  your usual.

Yes, the shoe will drop!!  Why?  You have 2 holes in your starting rotation every 5 days w/ Pelfrey, Figueroa and two on the DL:  1 who will have 32 inns. to show for the last 12 months and the other w/ a new delivery that cannot compensate for a bad wheel.  Pitchers that don't pitch for a year or more that come back and perform like it never happened--name one?  Sanchez or Gonzales in ATL or Benson in Philly?  I say ALL 3 are cooked:  that doesn't mean they're finished, but that after 2 months back they're in No-Man's Land.  That makes HR Heilman your 8th Inn. Set-Up Man.

Delgado & Alou are done, Castillo has bad knees and Beltran is back to his 1st year in NY in terms of production w/o Delgado as a force behind him.

You have a team that doesn't know how to win w/o a 13 game lead.  How will they perform in a close race w/ another team for 6 months?

You can knock Hamels, but my team is playing w/o J-Roll, Vic & Myers FB w/ no concerns about their heart or results.

GUYS,

Another point is that Santana did NOT like the booing.  He NEVER expected it, and behind the scene has said so.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT YOU'RE PRETTY WORRIED ABOUT THE Phillies OR YOU WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN SEEN THIS POST!  We talk about the Mets because we hate them and it's easy to rip them apart after their choke job at the end of last year!

Worrying about your own team is not even checking our threads..."Com'on man" - BOBBY!

And JD Drew didn't expect a couple of Philly fans to throw batteries at him a few years ago, but they did.  Based on that I assume Santana would have been booed in Philadelphia as well. Even though every team's fans like to think they're enlightened and never would do it; they would. Every team has asshole fans; every team.

BOBBY,

First, I don't see The Mets threads.  How far back are you going?  Did you read the thread, not just the title?

Second, Mets' fans booing is a legit topic.  1- we're known for booing & 2- we were invaded by Santana-mania well B4 pitchers & catchers.  The ONLY reason Mets' fans aren't here in droves is that they aren't 18-7 w/ a 5-game lead in 1st place, because they would be here if they had something to brag about to rub our faces in it.  Not just like last year, but more so to make up for Sept.  They would feel they owed us BIG TIME.  Not all, but most.

I'm relieved by your team's record, because of those same fans who feel entitled to come here w/ strong-armed posts.

MEAT,

First, we signed Jim Thome, and he NEVER got booed.  He didn't have great games every day.  Wagner didn't get booed for blowing a save in Sept. during a WC race.  He got some booing for not hitting 100 on the gun, but that was good-natured light booing from a few who wanted to see him light up the gun.  Hamels doesn't get booed when he struggles.

JD Drew and Scott Boras did anything they could to avoid the draft, to grab top dollar.  They told The Phillies & A's NOT to draft him, because he would not sign no matter what.  He dissed the city, and played for another team.  The team bend over backwards to try to sign him at top draft money, but he wanted FA money B4 playing 1/3 of a half inn.  That is beyond a stretch, Meat.

True, every team has them, but I was surprised BIG TIME that he got booed in his 1st home game.  That's why I don't feel it would have happened here.

Amen Tal. . . . tell that ignorant Mets fan how it is.  I think he is an undercover Phillies Phan.  I am glad they booed Santana.  Maybe he will want out of that chit hole city.

Then again...Mets fans sometimes exaggerate the bad. Like you said many fans act like the Mets have won only 4 games this year, when they are still in the thick of things. i just think every city has the loonies....
