best player drafted: Of all Bronco players newly drafted in 2008, i'd have to say that Ryan Torain is prob the best player taken.  Prior to his senior year, he was widely regarded/projected as one of the top 4 RB's in the2008 draft; then,  injuries plagued him, bringing down his value last season.  He's a perfect fit for Shanny's system and is a very tough, one-cut , downhill power runner, i think if he can steer clear of injuries in his Pro career, he could be on par , productivity wise with CP.....Shanny had him graded as a 1st round pick!

Honorable MentionRyan Clady

Sleeper/Best Value:  Carlton Powell .  He will be our starting DT by the end of the year..he's exactly the hard nosed, solid tackling run stuffer our DL needs! And to be able to acquire him in with such a late pick , Happy Birthday, Shannny !

Honorable Mention:  Hillis...a pure fullback.  He's raved about by Mc Fadden and Jones and was chiefly responsible for blowing those big holes open for Run DMC  (too bad for the Raiders they won't have an NFL version of him to make DMC look good--ha !!!)

Bust:   Cory Lichtensteiger...did i get his name right?  it's a coin flip whether this injury prone Center ever pans out, but i think we could have acquired safer choices lower in the draft--would have rather seen us go after a DE or a LB in the 3rd round

Honorable Mention:  Royal....with all the upside, how often do guys of his size make an impact at the WR position....he'll have to have most of his productivity in the KR game to validate the pick but there's something about the Broncos that make KR's stumble and stagnate....If Quentin Griffin couldn't do it, why should Royal be any different?  Am hoping he can give us that home run threat in the WR game though ; with his speed and Cutler's arm, he could definitely be useful when we need a quick strike

Bust:   Cory Lichtensteiger...did i get his name right?  it's a coin flip whether this injury prone Center ever pans out, but i think we could have acquired safer choices lower in the draft--would have rather seen us go after a DE or a LB in the 3rd round

sfv, we didn't have a third round pick, so that wasn't really an option. As for Lichtensteiger, where are you getting injury prone? I read that he had 44 consecutive starts in college, seems like he stayed pretty healthy to me. I agree with pretty much everything else you said, and I'm excited to see what this rookie class can do for us in 08!

Best player-toss up between Clady, Powell and Hillis
Sleeper-Powell or Torrain
Bust-Royal, Torrain, and potentially Clady
Clady could possibly be a George Foster, but I highly doubt he will, which is why I have him in both bust and best player.
If Torrain stays healthy, he could be a surpriser.  If his health issues resurface, potential bust.
Hillis-many are calling him the steal of the 7th and even the whole draft.
Royal is small for a WR, in my opinion wasn't the best WR in the draft or even out of all those available still at his selection, and with regards to kick and punt returning, I don't care if we had Devin Hester back there, if he doesn't get good blocking he is going to get freight trained by defenders.  Ok alot of people say "he had a terrible QB and they only ran 10 or passes a game."  Well I can see how that would actually be a knock on him.  He wasn't even the number one on a run first team with terrible QB's.

Guys calling Royal a bust do some research. So every analyst out there is wrong and you guys are right.....poeple here scream for some game on KR and we get it and still complaints. Holy Crap!

And how the hell can you compare Royal to Quentin Griffin.....are you smoking crack? My god, that is the worst comparison I have ever heard. Eddie Royal is faster, bigger and WAY stronger with awesome hands and a WR...not an RB....not even the same class or style of player!

Lichtensteiger player a WHOLE season with a torn Labrum.....anyone had one of those? It hurts in daily life let alone trying to play football on it. he is a tough SOB, a brawler and will do well.

I see no busts....the biggest worries would be Clady and Barrett but they also have the biggest upside to be stars.

Torain...he ws injured but will be a bruiser. Did not one Terrell Davis get injured in college?

Anyone that gets injured, whether they have been injured before, will have potential to be a bust. Torain is fully healthy now and he comes in with a clean slate.

You guys are hard to please man....

Peace

I agree BJ

i think Torain has trememndous upside.  He doesn't remind me of Terrell Davis, but does remind me of Clinton Portis and we all know Clinton Portis was far more effective behind our line than the Redskins.  I still remember the game CP got like 200 yards and five touchdowns against the Chefs (intentionally spelled like that).

I disagree on one point though.  Clady isn't a worry.  I'd put him in the same reliability and sure thing as I put powell.  It think those two are our surest bets.

I like Torain though. I think injuries come and go and as far as i've heard he has absolutely nothing that automatically creates an injury-prone status.  He's going to be a stud for us.  Here's to him starting by the end of the year!  I seriously believe it.  I like him better than our other backs, even Henry who i think will impress this year.

Yeah Hater,

Agreed. That was my point that I could not put eloquently enough in words. I dont think ANY of these guys will be a bust.

To call Royal a potential bust is like calling Clady a potentila bust.

I think all these guys are going to be solid contributors....and a 2-3 of them maybe stars.

Thanks Hater for the good post!

I agree BJ im really liking Royal just because he has speed, agility and hands maybe not size but he does have everything else, I personally think that everyone we drafted this year will be on our team, if i honestly had to pick a "bust" i would have to pick JW not because he isnt good but because i dont know if we needed a CB apparently Shanny doesnt think Paymah or Foxworth can handle the CB job or he just wants to groom one more while Champ and Bly are still kicking. I love all our players and i think we did a really nice job B+ in my book i cant wait for kickoff just to see Royal return the kick for a TD then i hope all the Royal haters will shut up!

Ok so remove Torrain and Clady from bust list.
Now the selection of Jack Williams says to me:1 we are going to trade either Foxworth or Paymah in this offseason or the
