A ruling like this was one year too late for the Phoenix Suns.  Members of the Celtics and Hawks moved as far away from the bench as some of the Suns did last year but aren't getting suspended. If Stern wanted to be consistent than Kendrick Perkins, Marvin Williams and even Kevin Garnett should have been given a game off.  I don't think they deserved it but Garnett's attempted elbow and two players stepping onto the court from the bench were similar to last year. It is these types of incosistencies (and poor calls of suspensions last season) as to why David Stern is a horrible commissioner.  I guess he is too worried about getting that franchise in Oklahoma City or overseas expansion to make consistent rulings.

Can't have anything as inconvenient as rules get in the way of Stern's dream match up of a Lakers v. Celtics championship.

As a Celts fan, I have to agree, there is only one reasonable action to take after the precedent of the Suns game and many more during the regular season last year.  Kendrick Perkins and Marvin Williams had to be suspended.

How BS is this move? What a joke! It's a wonder why so many people say they don't watch for injustices like this. Wait, not really. I too would be pretty pissed if a were a Suns fan. I think it's weak just as a fan of basketball.

This is going to piss some people off. I hated the ruling last year against the Suns (even though I am a Spurs fan, especially since it was reason to whine against them), and am really confused by the inconsistency. They stepped on the court to go get involved in the skirmish. Period. According to the rule that sat Amare, if you get on the court when you are not supposed to be, that is against the rules and you get suspended. It doesn't rule out guys who take only one step, it doesn't even rule out falling out of your chair onto the court. Stoudamire gets suspended, but not these guys because the league FINALLY decides to use some COMMON SENSE?? I applaud the fact that they actually tried THINKING for once, but I don't see why they didn't try this last year as well. Oh well. At least now no one can ***** about their team being handicapped...

If that was someone else, like Rasheed Wallace that pushed an official he would have been suspended for a couple of games, playoff or no playoff.
