Straight from the mouth of a Chiefs personnel person:

The Chiefs didn't look anywhere after Dorsey fell to them, and why should they? When I spoke to Kuharich months ago, he was drooling over the guy -- lamenting only that he wouldn't be there when the Chiefs picked.

As it turned out, he was.

"We didn't send in the card right away because if somebody got ridiculous we could move back," Kuharich said. "But we wouldn't go beyond 10. So we weren't fielding calls from anybody below New Orleans, and New Orleans called to offer us their first and seventh this year and their first in '09.

"That was an easy 'no.'

We got calls from New England, too, though I didn't know who they wanted. In our opinion, it was either (Vernon) Gholston or Dorsey, but it might've been somebody else. Anyway, it never got to the stage of 'What are you willing to pay?' We were focused on New Orleans, and when they came up short we just picked him."

I think their stupid for not taking this..... Granted Dorsey is special and I would've loved to see him in Black-n-gold but with 1a and 1b(ellis) you cannot ask much more than what we offered. They already had 13 picks and DT was not an immediate need. At 10 all it would've cost them was a third to take Ellis anyway. Anyways, I'm glad to have Ellis on the squad. hopefully he will emerge to be like Sapp(That's who he is compared to).

I don't mean this as a knock on Dorsey, but I'm glad that such a deal didn't go through.  Dorsey might be better, but by so small a margin over Sedrick Ellis as to have made the deal with the Patriots much more equitable than what could have been with the Chiefs.  I think the Saints got the best deal on that one.

You took the words right out of my mouth MissingNola. In fact, I was a little panicked when I heard what they were offering for Dorsey.  I think financially, logistically,... in all ways we came out just as good if not better by taking Ellis and only giving up what we did.  Even though we had to deal with the Hoody to do it.

Well I still feel like we're better off getting Sedrick EllisGlenn Dorsey is a beast, but I think Ellis is just as good and we didn't have to give up a 1st round pick in 2009 to get him.  I wonder what the Chiefs wanted from us?

Ellis will fit in just fine with us!

You talk about KC making a big mistake with turning down our offer... I agree, but look at their track record, I mean, when was the last time they had a decent season?  Or a decent draft class?  They actually did good this year, but...

I like Herm Edwards, I think he's funny & passionate about football, but he doesn't have the best track record either, he works with other peoples teams that other people picked, runs them into the ground and then moves on.  4 years in KC and still no QB & only 1 WR?!

Let them have Dorsey and in 4 or 5 years when he wants out of KC and wants to come to the Saints, we'll take him!

I know the Saints got a good player in Sedrick Ellis. I'm glad we didn't lose out first round for next year. I still wish we could have gotten Glenn Dorsey. It seems like everyone is sugar coating the fact that we didn't get him. It seems everyone is like, "oh ellis is just as good", or, "Ellis is a Beast". I get that. I wanted Dorsey, and I'm still a bit disappointed we couldn't get the Chiefs to bite. Either way there's nothing we can do about it now. I just wish we could have gotten him.
