Win your conference championship then go to the playoffs. Simple as that.

Jason we totally agree on this point! What a waste the BCS is.

As a side note I posted a blog today on some of my thoughts, check it out and enjoy.

It's not that simple!!  At the end of last season no one was playing as well as Georgia and they deserved to be in a playoff more than BC, WV, USC and Oklahoma.  I think they would have whooped OSU and LSU too.  It's not as simple as giving bids to conference winners when some of them don't deserve it.  Florida State got a BCS bid a couple of years ago because they won a horrid conference and they wasn't even ranked!!!  I would just like to see the top 8 teams, regardless of conference, play it off.

It's not quite as simple as that; there are 11 D-I conferences, which makes for a pretty awkward number with which to hold a playoff.  That is solved by taking those 11 conference champions and adding the 5 best 'at-large' teams to form a 16-team playoff, and seeding the teams 1 through 16.  In that scenario, last season's Georgia team would probably have qualified as one of the at-larges.  There will of course be some subjective choices as to who the 5 at-large teams should be, but there can be no real griping because every team had a chance to win the 'automatic bid.  This system might also discourage teams from scheduling 1-AA teams because such wins would lower their power ranking for the possible at-large bids.

16 teams are too many and it would never be approved.  Beside, i am sorry, but not every conference winner is good enough to make a playoff.  Just keep the BCS poll and use it to determine the TOP 8 TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY and let them play it out.  We would have much more entertaining games that way!!!  If a non-BCS school is #8 or higher then they will get their shot too.  I would actually love to see the NCAA force all schools into a conference liek they did in hoops.  Make them all have 12 teams and all have conference championships so everyone is on a more equal playing field.  that would make an even 10 conferences.

It is easy.  Its so easy.  Start the season in conference play and only conference play.  That would create major early season matchups and determine who gets to go.  The short regular season would allow for a 32 team playoff that consisted of every conference regular season winner and 16 at large bids.  The entire season would last no more than 14 weeks and we would have a true national champion.  To eliminate the bowl problem matchup the 32 and the 1 in the "no big deal bowl" and have the loser get the money and the winner move on to the next round for the bigger purse.   And so on until you get the money, credibility, bragging rights, and a champion in one nice little package.  The only way to make this happen unfortunately is to hit college football where it hurts and not watch or go to any games for one season.  The BCS committee would be forced to go to the table and negotiate a deal that would make fans happy.  The fans have all the chips but fail to exercise the power.  Someone needs to start a website and get on a PR campaign to boycott college football for 09.'

Everyone has to admit last year's bowl games sucked. Whoever or WHATEVER it was that was responsible for the matchups should be credited for the worse matchups in history. Especially the Rose Bowl. You have USC vs Illinois. It should have been Georgia vs USC.
