First of all, Tarvaris Jackson improved tremendously as the season went on.

5 of his 12 picks were in the first two games, so it definately seems like he progressed as the season went on.   His first five games he threw only 2 TDs, his last 5 games he threw 6, Definate sign of progression.....

12 games played 6 with a 0 interception total

Of the 6 games in which he threw an interception, in only 3 of them did he throw more than one interception.....

You gotta admit when we started our late season winning streak until the Bears game, you were saying to yourself he was doing better, and were starting to feel more comfortable......did anybody else see his absolutely stunning performance in the final quarter of the Broncos game?  He single handedly put us back into it.....hey guess what, that was the first time he was aloud to audible all season, imagine if he could do that for an entire season.....

Second of all, Jared Allens presence on the D-Line alone frees up one of the williams boys, and of course Ray Edwards.    Ray Edwards may not be an elite DE by any means, but he is good enough to beat single coverage.  So, if they keep allen locked up, edwards has a chance to shine.....

And lastly of all....am i the only one who doesnt really approve of the Tyrell Johnson trade?   Yes, he is possibly the best safety in the draft, and yes Darren Sharper is getting old, and yes he will make an impact sooner or later.....BUT, being as we did not have a first or third round pick and our second pick of the draft came in round 5, is giving up our fourth round pick for him a little too much?    That's the question we should be asking ourselves, there was alot of talent that went in the fourth round.

i'll take Jared Allen for those 3 any day.  we dont need a running back, and we got the best safety in the draft anywayz. damn, we're good! Uhh. No you didn't. Kenny Phillips was chosen way before Tyrell Johnson.

I'm with nascar, but Kenny Phillips wasn't the best Safety, in the draft Josh Barrett was IMO... anyways, Johnson is still better than Kenny Phillips i think

"wow...that's research and lack of a girlfriend or real sex toy but thanks.....I'm enlightened...you...need a hobby!"

Good point.  I just get tired of people getting all excited about these names of college guys who are the "next best thing", especially third rounders who are lucky to make a team's roster, let alone become starters at any point during their careers.

As you can see from the list, there are a lot high draftees who never came close to doing anything, even though they were highly touted going into the draft.

Also, until there is a rookie salary cap like there is in the NBA, I'll take the proven veteran who can step right in over an unproven rookie who will take time to develop (if he ever works out at all) but still gets paid like the proven veterans and counts against the salary cap just the same.

Did we pay too much? We will find out when we count how many times your QB is on his back, when the Vikings see you in game one of the season. To get a pro bowl DE that is proven, and in his prime will make the vikings D one of the best in the league if not the best in the league. I think the past two drafts have been great. I'm always the optimist but look out for the vikings this year. I hope I don't loose to much money betting we ruin Farve's #4 retirement party. But I'm pretty sure we will.

Sharper getting old isn't the issue. He's in the final year of his contract +may very well retire after this season.Thats why they picked Tyvell Johnson. Hopefully Jackson is improving. He can put the Vikings in the playoffs for sure +more!
