I know this happens a lot and it does create a good discussion from time to time, but one trade that I wish John Schurholtz would not have made was the 2003/2004 trade with the St. Louis Cardinals that brought over JD Drew. I know he was huge for us during that season and was pivotal to our winning the division since Chipper missed so much time. But one thing that has hurt us in the long run is the fact we gave up Adam Wainwright. He has been very good since joining the rotation and so far this year is 3-1 with a 2.80 ERA. He has gone 7+ each time out and arguably one of the best young pitchers in the NL. I think between him and Jair the Braves would have a good 1-2 punch to go along with Hudson and Glavine. I know just a pipe dream though. But boy what could have been.

Anyway enough of my ramble, what do you guys think?

Gotta be one of the dumbest trades you can make.  You give up great pitching prospect for a below average hitter.  You never give up pitcher with great potential for hitters.

Another bad trade in the making, giving up Joey Devine for a short-term solution Mark Kotsay.  We should have just called up Jordan Schafer.

No then we would not have a CF as Shafer is suspended 50 games for the HGH stuff. Devine needed a change of scenery because it was just not working out in Atlanta. I believe bringing him up in 2005 was a HUGE mistake. Who knows what could have been though.

Wainwright was another story. Many thought he would be in Atlanta at some point in 2004 or early 2005.  Cardinals got a steal as we are witnessing now.

Then when Schafer got suspended then we'll just call up Joe Borchard and Josh Anderson.

I'm going to go ahead and say we have it a lot worse with Dan Haren and Daric Barton for Mark Mulder
