Avs fans in large are not whining. We know we got our asses handed to us butt then again this is a good young team that is a good goaltender away from being a true cup contender.
I'm proud of our guys.

Amen on the goaltender comment. Could they please get someone who doesn't have their head burried up Pierre's butt? When they started him in Detroit while sick with the flu they showed to everyone just how bad this guy is screwing up this team. I can't imagine Joel Quenneville has the ability to name another starter with Pierre looking over his shoulder.
Get another goalie (say Dan Ellis from Nashville) and ditch Theodore!

i'm assuming you're talking about pierre lacroix? he may be president, but francois giguere is the one that controls the trades and free agents and stuff. he may not have been the one that got theodore, but he doesn't control who starts either. thats on quenneville. i suppose i'm game for a new goalie, but Dan Ellis? he's unproven ( no, beating out Chris Mason isn't considered proven) and as far as anyone knows he's a flavor of the week, kinda like chris mason lol.

The difference between real Avs fans and the standard Red Wings fan is that we understand what happened in the series. It's true that Detroit smoked us all year long, but the Avs never really had their full compliment of players either during the regular season or in the playoff series. You guys dominated our JV team...no doubt about it.
The Avs were without the following guys due to injury or illness for all or part of the series:
Peter Forsberg, Paul Stastny, Ryan Smyth, Wojtek Wolski, Jose Theodore, Scott Hannan, Marek Svatos, and Brett Clark.
I assume that if the Avs were close to 100% healthy for the series and the Red Wings had been without Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Holmstrom, Osgood, Rafalski, Filpula, and Lidstrom, the results would have been substantialy different. Not an excuse, just an explanation.

Perhaps it's just my conspiracy theory that Pierre has more to do with Theodore starting, playing and not being traded at the end of last season. He is the Pres afterall. I know the decisions are not "made" by him directly, but I do think he influences all decisions made regarding his boy Theodore.
As far as Dan Ellis, yes he's unproven. But he did get them to the playoffs in his first season with the team. He also only let Detroit score 16 goals on him in 6 playoff games (not 15 in 4 games like Theodore did).

Very good point about, about the players, and good point about being smoked.. the Avs team that got put on the ice for the Detroit series looked FLAT FLAT FLAT every game.. Even game 2 i think (4-3) i hope thats the right game at this point it doesnt matter.. But the Avs never looked right. Theodore needs to go bye bye.. Montreal was probably lauging their ass off when we took him. Not like they laughed when Roy left.. But people who said get Ellis.. not a chance Preds wouldnt give him up.. now a strange thought.. depending on what the wings do.. with their small Goaltender problem of 2 QUALITY netminders.. do they have to get rid of one.. I for one would not mind either one of those two in our net.. or for example Manny legacy who would probably love a change of view from St. Louis.. Just some options.. But yes we need a new Forsberg talented player, a healthy team, and for gods sake Giguere get us a damn goalie..

I know there's such things as sore losers..... BUT didn't know there's such a thing as a sore winner. I guess I should have thought of who was on the other side of the coin.
Damage was done due to our injuries. That's the bottom line. ALL season and playoffs the Wings didn't face a health Avalanche team. I brought that up after game 3 of the regular season.... and I was accused of playing the injury card.
Whatever ladies in red.....it is what it is. The Wings totally out played a deflated AVS team that was without 4-5 forwards out of their top 9. Let's see ANY team try to win a series with that problem. Never the less I don't think the Wings have been tested at all in these playoffs. They got by a Nashville team that well the only good thing they had was a hot goalie riding on fumes. And swept a Avalanche team riddled by injuries.
We'll have to wait and see........ but don't get too happy. These are familiar waters for them Wings, and are used to doing it this way.
Never the less.......... Good Job AVS....... keep your chin up guys. They do have a few rising Stars, and the potential is still there for next year.
