I know that this is probably not a popular view with a lot of my fellow Colts fans, but I cannot see rooting for someone who feels the need to own 25 guns and be stupid enough to put themselves in this position where they can be questioned in a shooting.
Ok.... first of all, I have to say that rich people are going to have a need to protect themselves and their property. Sure, you can have bodyguards walking around with you most of the time, but there will be an occasion where you have to protect yourself. As Shaun Taylor proved to us, not having a gun doesn't make you any safer than having one or 25 of them. In fact, Taylor may still even be alive if he had a gun with him that fateful night. Every human has the right to protect their homes and families so to say that he shouldn't have guns (especially when you add the fact that the human is rich and is therefore, a target) is rediculous in my view.
I hope that Marv is proven innocent, but I cant look past the fact that he would be put in this situation...
Some people end up in situations in which they have little to no control. Sure, a lot of the times guys can put themselves in bad spots, but Marvin was hanging out on his property, in his home town..... how can we say he put HIMSELF in a bad spot. It's not like he went looking for trouble, the person who got shot came to his establishment and thats where the incident occurred. I mean, when trouble comes knocking on your door, can you always tell it to come back later, or that you don't have time for it because you are a football player? Please.
I was in a bar after work today and the bar tender put it best...once you sign that first multi-million dollar contract, isnt it time to get out of the ghetto?
Ummm no? Those players who come from the poorer parts of the country are even more apt to be around the environment of their upbringing. Can we just tell them to forget about family and life long friends because they have a million dollar contract? No way. These people have the right to their lives and to make friends as they see fit. I do not see any good that can be done by forgetting your roots and trying to assmilate into a group that you are not familiar with.. could you truly feel welcome and comfortable if that's not what you are used to? Probably not.
In fact, by them staying in the community more, they are more apt to see problems that they could help fix by giving back or investing into the community....
I find it funny that people who are not from the ghetto can sit back and criticize people who are from there, for their actions.
