check out Detroitlions.com the story on Buster Davis dude reading it got me even more pumped for this guy. I loved him at FSU I got to see him a lot plus I thought it would be tight for him and sims to play together. So when the idiot Cards dropped him and the Lions picked him up I knew they had something special. You gotta read the article Marinelli says he could be up for a starting spot

Yeah I read it. I really liked Daivs comming out of college. I thought he was going to be a Lion last year during the draft I jsut thought he was exactly what Marinelli was looking for and I was sooo pumped when the cards dropped him. I hope he comes along. I really think he would be a better fit in the middle than Dizon anyway. Don't get me wrong I hope Dizon pans out. but he is more of a drag down tackler, while Buster is a smash you in the mouth lights out type of hitter. Ideally Buster plays the middle and Dizon plays the Strong side, but maybe I am wrong mayeb the middle backer needs to cover more ground in the passing game. I don't recall whether or not if Buster has all the range Dizon has. I don't know thats why I am not a coach. BUt I hope it all pans out either way we have better depth than we did a year ago. Dizon can't be anyworse than Boss, and Buster hopefully is an upgrade over Lehman. I picture Simms and Dizon in the nickel with Campbell playing the NIckel position.

The Tank---as Rod called him will be a great fit at Middle and if he is and Dizon playesSam------then I guess all the EXPERTS that have chastized the Lions for not picking Mayo or Rivers---who were gone---will eat there words----

But there like polititions----then they will say I thought he was a great sleeper--- lol

Did anyone notice that other than the top 6 picks, which a monkey could have selected, not even one FOOTBALL EXPERT was even close.

When you pick you fantasy football team, be sure not to pay attention to them cause there already telling us who will be rookie of the year for next year---------

WHAT A JOKE-------------------------

Read the story yesterday and it is a good article on Buster Davis. Does this make him the next starting MLB? I wouldn't bet on it. Davis has a very big heart and a love for the game but look at his size (5'9" 240) is not going to cut it in the NFL as a MLB for an entire season. Offensive linemen will eat him up. I understand Marinelli loves guys with character but why are they always undersized??

Davis had a stand out college career for FSU and earned being drafted as a 3rd round selection last year by the Cardinals. The Lions got very lucky when Davis was cut able to pick him up for little. It's now up to Davis to work his tail and and fight for playing time. Will be on special teams for sure but will he be part of the rotation at MLB??? That all depends on what happens with 2nd round pick Jordan Dizon if he plays the middle or strong side in '08.

Check out who might be our starting LB's for the 2008 season...

WLB - Ernie Sims 5'11" 225 (the leader of our defense)

MLB - Buster Davis 5'9" 240 (practice squad last year)

WLB - Jordan Dizon 5'11" 230 (rookie)

all three players are under six foot...how will the Lions protect them from the bigger offensive linemen and fullbacks??

Still wish we would have drafted Dan Connor over Dizon I hope I'm proven wrong!

It's called speed and intelligence. Connor sucks. He got dragged all over the field during Senior week. The guy is about as strong as a hamster.

Why do I keep seeing you guys list Dizon at 5'11"? Where is this listed? Detroit Lions site, Nfl.com, And the Nfl combine numbers list him at 6'. Where are these often quoted fake numbers coming from? Not that it really that big a deal, it's just driving me crazy. Much like when people call him weak for lifts, when a ten second google search will show he did 21 lifts at the combine. Arrgh. I guess there would be no reason to have a post about everyone being under 6' if one guy was 6'.

It's called speed and intelligence.

That is funny...everyone Marinelli drafts or picks up during free agency is because they have speed and intelligence...keep believing that if you want too!

How often did you see Dizon play???

Dizon 40 time NFL combine - 4.71 at his Pro Day on Campus 4.63

Dizon on benching 225 - Pro Day 12 times (I can lift 225 11 times and I'm 6'2" 196 and played college QB) and you say Connor is as strong as a hamster???

Dizon Wonderlic Score - 21/38

Lacks prototypical size for a starting NFL linebacker. ... Finding a position will be difficult as he does not have the strength to take on and shed pro offensive linemen in the middle and is not the elite athlete with the size and speed needed to chase down backs in the open field or staying with top receivers or tight ends. ... Not the most explosive tackler, which can hurt him against larger, quicker backs. ... Gets lost in traffic and lacks recovery speed.

Dan Connor - 40 time - 4.67 during Pro Day

Connor bench press 225 - 22 times (that's more what you expect from a LB) and you think he is not strong (lol)

Connor Wonderlic Score - 24/38 (who has better intelligence??)

Nother point has....a point! Why if this guy is suposedly so good, would the Cardinals use a third rounder on him and then cut him and then the Lions who had terrible linebackers and he couldnt even make it off our practice squad.

If your Defense is last in almost every category and you cant do anything but make the practice squad, then it isnt saying much about your game.

Also, they wouldnt of focused on drafting linebackers in the draft if Davis was the answer.
