I think his point was that even with Kimmo Timonen and Braydon Coburn the Penguins are still the better and more talented team. The key is that we have to play our game not yours. Scrums after the play are not our game and it slows the pace down to a level that favors Philly. When it takes 30 seconds to break up a scrum, that's 30 seconds 78 year old Darien Hatcher has to rest his legs. Anything that slows the game does not benefit the Pens, our game is speed, skating, and passing.
By the way SidLouganis-
Daniel Briere should be suspended for the ridiculous dive that he took last night. Somehow Gonchar touched Briere's chest with his free hand and got a holding penalty, but as play continued Briere pulled off some of the greatest aerial acrobatics I have ever seen from very minor contact. He basically did a cartwheel in mid air as the result of Gonchar touching his skate. When I saw it I started having flashbacks to Kristie Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan in the olympics. What a sally.
Coburn, Timonen, hell... I don't care if they pull out Robert Clarke and Jim Watson of the 70's
It's comments like that that makes you look foolish. It's only our number 1 and 2 defensemen, and Timo is our QB on the power play. Sounds like a gauranteed victory 00charger. Is it?

When they called the hold, I thought they were calling the play against the pens for the Gonchar contact. Briere was putting the brakes on to circle back when he went down. Gonchar did not cause him to lose it, in fact, I didn't see any contact by Gonchar at all until after he was off his skates, and I was pissed at the idea that the refs were calling that. I can't agree with you that that was a dive, though. He was trying to turn completely around with the puck and lost balance.
The holding call was bullsh*t as well.

Gopens1982, I enjoy most of your posts and your a knowlegable fan. However I have to disagree with you on this one post:
gopens1982-
"Hate to mention this but it was only one game...I get the feeling that people on here seem to think that the pens all of a sudden have all of this pressure on them to win game five...I think people forget that its 3 games to 1 the pressure is still on the Flyers and will be til the end of the series...even if there is a game 7 its on home ice for the pens and the flyers will have played the last three games under stressful desperate circumstances...and I believe that the pens feel more comfortable playing on flyer ice than the flyers on the pens ice...but thats just my opinion...Go pens"
Yea your wrong. The Pens do have all the pressure to close it out in game 5. The reason the Flyers won last night is b/c they were playing loose and had nothing to lose. Now if it was 2-1 in the series going into last nite, then I think alot of pressure would have been on the flyers to win. We were down 3-0 in the series. Our chances are so slim that only 2 teams in NHL history have come back from that. The pressure is off us b/c were not expected to win the series after that. Were a #6 seed that was in last place in the NHL last year. And we were picked by everyone to lose in 5 games to the Caps, and then the Canadiens in 5. But guess what we didn't feel any pressure and proved everyone wrong. You can't deny the fact that the Pens are pressured to win on Sunday b/c if the Flyers lose Sunday, we say "That was a great season, we weren't expected to be here and we almost got to the cup, were a growing young team." You guys are the #2 seed who has the 3-0 lead and if you dont win Sunday it comes back to Philly. Plus Timo and Coburn are skating today and both might, God willing, be playing on Sunday and help the momentum of this team. No pressure on us at all.
Cant wait for the game on Sunday. Way too long of a wait. But if it brings back Coburn and Timmonen then I'll take it. Get Modry back on the bench and keep Parent.

Wow, took a little longer than I expected to get caught up on all the posts...for the most part pretty fair and objective with a few obvious exceptions.
Hats off the the Flyers for a very well played game. The took advantage of their PP chances and out worked the Pens who just seemed slow and/or disinterested last night. I have to say Scottie Upshall is working his way up to be one of my most hated players, similar I'm sure to how non-pens fans view Rutuu, but man he's really turning into a cheap shot artist.
Good news for Flyer fans about Timo and Coburn coming back, but I fully expect the Pens to close the series out on Sunday

IronCity- your better than that. Briere is like 150 lbs hah and obviously he is going to fall over when he gets hit by 220lb guy. He is the smallest guy left in the playoffs, so who cares. Briere did a cartwheel in mid air. Damn why should he get suspended??? Thats more impressive then embarassing.
Malkin last night in the 1st period acted like Carter upended him and then they showed the replay and his stick tapped his quad and then he did his little acting to sell his flopping. But you know what I could care less and would not say a guy should get suspended. You usually dont cry on here IronCity. Im disappointed in you; dont fall down the path of some Pens fans who are starting to cry. It was a great game and I expect a hard fought battle on Sunday.

As the camera panned around the Wach following Staal's second goal it seemed as if the crowd was preparing themselves for a tie and overtime loss. The mood seemed to be 'Why Us'. The sigh of relief didn't come until the empty netter. In any other championship series the away team is usually quite content with a split of games 3 and 4. The Pens Nation expected a sweep, somewhat disappointed, but we are 11-2 in the post season and considering the competion are confident the Pens will advance.
Congrats to the Flyers, they can go back to their home in New Jersey and prepare for Sunday. At least they will not have to bear the humiliation of the Pens clinching on their home ice.
