The key to the secondary is improving its weakest link.   Last year (at least for the first half of the season) that weak link was Lewis Sanders.   It didn't matter how good DeAngelo might have been.   If you needed a first down, all you had to do was throw to the guy Lewis Sanders was covering.

We don't have to have another Pro Bowl caliber player to replace DeAngelo.  We just need to make sure we have three guys (starters plus nickel corner) who are better in coverage than Lewis Sanders and Chris Crocker.   Houston and Hutchins will fill two of those spots.   We need Irons, Grimes, Chevis Jackson, or possibly even Antoine Harris to step up in camp and become a starter.

The pass rush situation you mentioned is a much greater cause for worry.  If Abraham can't get any real help putting pressure on opposing QBs, we're toast no matter how good the DBs turn out to be.

Don't forget to mention that the quarterbacks last year often threw in Roddy White direction a little more to, which inabled him to get into some kind of rythum out there. Receivers are alot like NBA 3 point shooters. Most of them need a few shots to get into a rythum and to get there timing down. Recievers are the same way exspecially when they know the ball is coming there way. I am not putting all the blame on Michael Vick but he did play a big role in my opinion.

That is another very good point. Repetition helps everyone.
