A 3-Peat?! Let's try for one...then we'll see how it goes.
Without the injuries we had last year, We Should be going for back to back this year. That's just hockey though. We had patchwork defense out there last years playoffs. It's extremely hard for consecutive cups, but the Red Wings have done it before ( '97, '98.)

Interesting tidbit, The Red Wings were the last to get consecutive Cups, the Stars were the last to try.

i could be wrong here, but i think jrich was referring to the 3-peat of the Red Wings, pistons and tigers?
that being said, this should be a great series. i'll take the wings in 6. the games will be close and hard fought, with turco stealing a couple. the wings are just playing too well right now with two solid scoring lines. the Stars have a good young defensive core, but the experience and leadership of the red wings will prevail
anyone else seeing any similarities to the '97 run? let's go Flyers!
go wings!!

Oh, that kind of 3-peat...now that makes mch more sense.
You can certainly draw some parallels to the '97 season, hopefully we get the same results. Living outside of Philly, they think the Flyers are a lock to beat the Penguins And that the West is overrated. I don't concur.
Red Wings in 6.

well, the Pats lost because the Giants wanted it more. Thats all. I am sticking with my pick of Wings in 5, but I am by no means picking that because I think the Stars are just human pileons, they are not. They are a great team, I just think that with the way the wings have been playing (35 to 40 shots a game) the Wings will win it. All of the games will be close, because Turco is a great goalie. Unlike Theodore and Ellis, he can actually put up a save percentage of at least .900 against the Wings.

If tourco stoped 61 of 62 against the Sharks i think he can do it against the wings, the sharks have good players as well in thorton and cheechoo and we stoped them, i know the wings have more people than the sharks but i do think this series will be won by the Stars where they will play the pens in the stanley cup finals.

Thats why I said Turco can stop atleast 90% of the Wings shots, but like you said, the wings have more people who can shoot than the Sharks. The searies will be all about Ozzie. If he gets in any slump at all, the Stars will win, but if that does not happen, I still have to pick Wings in 5 and I will not be supprised if atleast 3 go into OT.

This series is going to boil down to a couple of factors: one, can Turco stay hot? Theodore was the hottest goalie going into the 2nd round, and he was chased in 3 of 4 games. Not to mention that Turco, so far, has not been able to beat the Wings consistently. His only win this year against them was a 1-0 shutout win in February when the Stars were red-hot and the Wings were ice-cold. The other thing I'm interested to see is who's "hot" scorer stays that way. Morrow is playing extremely well for Dallas right now, and the Wings have the Mule. Can Franzen keep up his pace? And can he threaten the record for goals in a playoff season (17 by Gretzky).
Wings in 6. They split the first 2, split the second 2, then the Wings take control and win out.
