Very nicely put C&W. I agree with pretty much everything you just said. I was quite angry last night, hence the lack of posting (my happiness seems to hang with the outcome of the Red Wings a little too much). I don't think I need to say anything about the refs and no-call, it's been stated enough already.
On a happier note, I was listening to Mickey this morning (and I think he'll be announcing on Sat...am I right on this???) and he said Frazen has been cleared for light workouts. Which probably means he'll ride the bike today, maybe some light skating tomorrow, and they'll make a gametime decision for him. It would be really good to have a game under his belt, plus that second line needs a bit of an energy boost after that showing last night.
All-in-all, that was an incredible game of hockey. Very exciting (though I enjoy it a lot more when the wings come out on top). This is the type of game we thought we would be seeing the entire series. This can be a positive thing for the wings, considering they didn't play all that well outside of our first line and the helm line. Dallas gave us everything they had, and the wings responded with a sub-par performance. We have room for a LOT of improvement.
Use this loss boys, and come back with a vengence
GO WINGS!!

Bits and pieces from ESPN.com... For once I actually do not think they are talking out their a$$e$
"All that matters is Tomas Holmstrom's rear end -- and possibly his reputation -- cost the Detroit Red Wings a goal and the Stars took full advantage, avoiding the humiliation of getting swept out of the Western Conference finals."
" The goal was waved off immediately, with officials telling Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom that Holmstrom's backside interfered with Turco in the crease. Replays didn't necessarily confirm that, but it didn't matter because it's not a reviewable play. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said Holmstrom's history of crowding and bumping goalies -- as he did to Turco earlier this series -- likely factored in.
"That's a reputation call, totally," Babcock said. "Kelly [Sutherland] is a good referee. He just blew the call. That's life."
Turco said he was "not really out there thinking about calls getting evened up."
"I couldn't move freely to make that save on the shot," Turco said. "I really don't think it's a bad call. I don't think it's black-and-white like it used to be. It's the referee's discretion."
With commissioner Gary Bettman in the building, officials hardly discussed Dallas' first goal, scored by Loui Eriksson while he was clearly in the crease.
Eriksson insisted the puck beat him into the crease, which made his presence legal. Detroit goalie Chris Osgood said Eriksson "was right on top of me."
Officials went with Eriksson's version.
"It hit my body and then hit the stick," Eriksson said. "I was just standing there. I didn't hit it with my hand. I knew it was good."
Osgood, who had been 9-0 this postseason, said the rule "keeps floating around."
"I don't know if there's a force field around the crease or how it works," he said. "I'm not quite sure about the logic or interpretation." "

Wings sign goaltending prospect Larsson
by Ansar Khan
Wednesday May 14, 2008, 12:25 PM
The Wings have signed goaltender Daniel Larsson to a two-year entry level contract. Larsson was their fourth pick (92nd overall in the third round) in the 2006 entry draft.
"I think he's interested in coming to North America. The expectation is he'll be in Grand Rapids (next season),'' Holland said. "He was voted the best goalie in the Swedish Elite League. I saw him play a game in late January. I like him, he's got real good feet, good glove. He's a good prospect.''
The Wings are also working on signing forward Dick Alexsson and defenseman Logan Pyett before the June 1 deadline, when they would lose their rights.
Very impressive indeedyly Also signing the top Finish league player recently proves how tireless our scouts and team management work to make us the best we can be ever year.
Did you guys hear Versus last night pimping the skills of Babcock's assistant coach McClellan last night saying he "will" be a coach someday in the NHL and should be looked at now for possible head coaching positions that are open. I have been wondering when the rest of the league would come begging for men working for our great organization. I don't see Babcock will go anywhere after the season but his contract is up then I think.

Great win by the Stars last night. They got after it when they had to.
Yeah, the refs blew a couple calls, but it's not the first time, nor will it be the last. Bottom line, hats off to Dallas for playinh better than the Red Wings.
Bummer the Wings didn't get the single-season win-streak record. But this just gives them the opportunity to sew it up at the Joe.

He was at the game last night no wonder Sutherland called a crappy game. He probably gave him the stink eye like his job was on the line if he didn't help the Stars out with at least one heinous call. Bettman is making the same face a mouse makes when you dangle a piece of cheese over it's snout
Looked like Eriksson speared Ozzy on that one goal dude. Sutherland musta had his good eye closed on that one
Moonspell- please don't get your info about anything hockey from ESPN. TSN.ca or thehockeynews.com are great sources for hockey info and our course nhl.com. Go to ESPN for texas holdem updates and if kobayashi broke his hotdog eating world record and see if that stuck up biotch from metro Detroit that works for ESPN on TV has gained another 20 pounds in her arse or not F that lame arse network.
Babcock will say anybody is a good referee. He said the same thing about the ref that called off Homer's goal because of interference during the regular season. Must be all the refs are excellent in the NHL eh Babs...please...call a turd a turd if it is one.

Good morning, hockey fans. I just wanted to weigh in on the no goal subject and then leave it alone.
We had a simuliar situation with the Pistons playing the Magic. The Chauncey-no-time-left 3 pointer. It counted, in this case, and it shouldn't have. The NBA admitted the mistake, but again, it was a judgement call in the heat of battle. Magic fans argued that the 3 changed the whole complexity of the game. But that call came in the 3rd Quarter. Who knows what would have happen if the 3 wasn't counted. This is the same senario with the Red Wings. Refs missing calls piss me off too. But refs are human too.
Now stating that fact, I'm not taking anything from Dallas. They played brillantly. Detroit fell victim to not so stellar play, bad calls, and no energy. Dallas had it all. Great job!
Unfortunately, I think that particular game will bring out the best in the Wings on Saturday.
