Well, my only upshot is that I live in an area that does not care about playoff hockey because their team hasn't made it in such a long time (burn on the Blackhawks!) So I'm not as concerned about someone blowing it for me. This is both the blessing and curse of living here; no one really cares, so they won't tell me the score, but at the same time no one really cares, so there's no one to talk to about the game. But, my family is Canadian, and if the Wings make it, I will get "congratulatory" calls from them, so that could blow it. I'll give this little "poll" another day before making a final decision. Thanks for the input so far.

C&W no problem man. I must say from a friend to a friend now. All BS aside. You don't look so good. Do you feel all right? Serious man you probably need to lay down and rest on the couch at least until Sunday.

Wingman has your back bro. LOL

luther, my only problem with that is that my wife knows she married a Red Wing-loving Canadian boy. Let me put it this way; my daughter was born in early June. Last year, as the Wings were making their way into the CF, the running joke was that it would be Game 7 of the Finals going into OT and her water would break; the question became, what would I do? Go to the hospital or watch the game? Obviously, I would go to the hospital, because the birth of a child is a million times more important than a hockey game. However, as the Wings got closer and closer to the Finals, the thought ate at my brain: how hard would it be to leave the game? Could I actually miss Game 7 OT in the Finals if the Wings were playing? Thankfully, I never had to answer the question, but there was a lot of doubt.

Wow, that rambled. Here's my point: I'm going to have to lose a limb to stay home from this wedding without incurring the wrath of my wife, because any sort of sickness is going to be met with EXTREME skepticism. And then I will be cut off for at least a year. Probably longer. No, just a year. But, that doesn't mean I am going to stop trying to get out of it. I am launching "Operation Get-Out-Of-Stupid-Wedding" starting tonight. Wish me luck!

I agree...you look like you just got run over by Hal Gill.

Seriously, tell her you think you have something really obscure but that sounds exotic and highly contagious.  I know!  Tell her you have syndactyly.

Wingnut, lol. You know, now that you mention it, I'm feeling a little warm. I think it might be one of those flus that is minor at first, but 45 hours after the first sign, it's really bad (it's 45 hours until game time, right?)

LOL, luther, that's awesome. Again, though, I'm screwed - she's in nursing school. Hence another part of my dilemma. Here's what I plan on doing: beg, plead and grovel to get out of the ceremony, watch the Wings win, then celebrate by getting hammered at the reception with a bunch of people I don't know.

Good luck, man.

I still believe you have some Captain in you.

Darn hockey-lovin' Canucks! (implied smiley face--I believe I've made my stance on emoticons perfectly clear in prior posts)
