Here's to ending this series and playing for the cup. What's the over under on interference penalties today?
Personally I think the Red Wings come out and dominate. They have to. The power play will click today, I feel it. Maybe- the Flyers can't postpone the inevitable one more game. That might help get Mule back mid Finals, but he sounds real iffy right now.
Prediction 4pm ESDT Today: Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals ... Turco 0 for life as a Pro at the Joe
Thanks for the advice guys, narrowed it down a lot. Solar, that sounds like it was tough in the Army, here in JROTC i'm soon to jump from MSG to 2LT as a PLT LDR. I appreciate talking to you and thank you for serving in Desert Storm.
Well my baseball double header didn't get canceled or anything so I'm out on the field till 4pm. Bummer. This is it though hopefully, LETS GO WINGS!!!!!
Spetz, good luck in your baseball double header. Hit 'em where they ain't!
About 3 hours until Game 5. My prediction: (drum roll) Stars 3, Red Wings 2. Marty Turco gets his first NHL win at the Joe, and Brenden Morrow scores the game-winner. It won't be easy - Jere Lehtinen, Stu Barnes, Phillipe Boucher, and Mark Fistric are all out - but if Dallas comes out and skates hard from the opening faceoff, AND KEEPS IT UP ALL GAME LONG, then I like their chances. They've got to be physical, finish their checks, and for crying out loud, get some traffic in front of Osgood! Dallas has had, what, one goal , from in close, in this whole series? That needs to change.
Sorry, Jak-O, forgot to give my o/u for interference penalties this game. (BTW, I am assuming you meant goalie interference.) I predict two - one on Cleary, and one on Ott. (Although I think that there will be one missed that should get called on Holmstrom.) And as long as I have on my "swami" hat, I will further predict that the call on Ott will result in a disallowed Stars goal! LOL
(Wow, those tequila shots for breakfast really needed some limes to balance them out!)
IGNR: just curious about your avatar. I know you're a Wings fan, but the Stars logo on it makes me wonder what that's about. Is it just to signify who the Wings are facing in their current series? In other words, if (more realistically, when) the Wings advance to the SCF, the other part of the avi would then change to the Pens or Flyers logo? Or is your house divided, and someone in it a Stars fan?
WB -- you're right, the avatar simply signifies the matchup. It comes from the NHL website, I think. I believe the Wings are on top because they are the higher seed.
My two favored teams are the Wings in the West and the Bruins in the East, but I've always followed the Wings most closely. I don't really "hate" any team. Every year, I buy The Hockey News season preview, and I used to subscribe to The Hockey News, but haven't had as much reading time lately, so I've let it lapse. I do most of my "checking up" online now.
Today, I think the Wings will be back in their comfort zone, so I don't think things will be nearly as tough as they were Wednesday night. The Stars played 'em hard, and it was a helluva game. The Wings will come out ready to rock and take this one to the house. Wings win on the order of 5-2 or 4-2.
The Stars have a good team, and I think the future looks bright for them. This series has brought some reasons to believe a nice rivalry will develop for next year.
After today, it's on to The Cup for the Wings!
BTW, you can call me Iggy, or just Ig. It's easier than typing IGNR, etc.
