"I also think the Wings fans are overlooking the Stars. The Wings had troubles with lowly Nashville. Yea, you stomped the Aves, but they were a shell of their former team due to injuries. Now you'll be playing the hottest team in hockey.
And anyone who will take Osbad over Turco must be more of a Wings fan than a Hockey fan..... Of the two times Osbad has his name added to the cup - the first one he rode the pine the whole playoffs....the second one - the team in front of him was unstoppable. I could have played goalie for that team and still one a few games.
But go ahead and have your "Wings in 5" pipe dream....
The only good Wings are the ones I eat a Hooters...
Stars in 6"
REPEAT AFTER ME...I AM SOFA KING WE TODD ED.
I think I officially dumber for reading that post. WOW.

I'm not going to say the Stars are chumps or the Stars are a joke, or anything like that - it only takes away from the Red Wings' greatness. The Stars are a good team that took out two very good teams in the playoffs. They were playing great, Turco looked good, Modano looked 24 again, everything was rolling along wonderfully. But then they hit the wall and had to play the best team in the NHL in the Detroit Red Wings.
Dallas had a great season, and even though I hate the idea of ANY hockey played south of the Mason-Dixon, I actually like the Stars (minus Steve Ott and Mike Ribiero). I loved Marty Turco at U-M, and Modano is a Detroiter too. Great year, and here't to the West again claiming another Stanley Cup.
PS- If anyone didn't know how good Henrik Zetterberg or Pavel Datsyuk were, good morngin. Glad to see your finally awake!

If you look at last night, the Stars threw just about everything they had at the Wings in the first period and into the second, and controlled the play. But Hudler's goal, and the Stars' subsequent inability to do anything on their PP, tilted the ice in the Wings' favor, and then Hank's shorty sealed the deal. Nice to see Pavel get the trick - 1st ever as a professional.
BTW, nice to see that the Ribeiro-Osgood incident didn't turn into anything. Especially nice to see no one from Detroit go after Ribeiro, since he did a great job of taking himself out of the game on his own (sorry Stars' fans, couldn't resist).

I couldn't believe to turn look online this morning and see the Wings won the way they did. All I can say about Datsyuk is WOW. Wish I could've watched the game last night (being in Kuwait makes things tough when the games are on at 4 am), but they looked pretty damn good with what Dallas was throwing at them. I honestly don't think that there's a team in hockey right now that can even pose a threat to Detroit without playing some Olde Tyme Hockey "Pauly Shore".
And in reference to the Ribeiro incident...it happens. I mean yea, it could have been totally avoided but what player, regardless, would sit back and do nothing?

Agree, GRG. The only thing wrong with the Dallas Stars right now is the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings look so much faster and stronger, and they're getting great defense and goaltending.

May 12, Dallas News:
Marty Turco after game two, prior to game three:
"When the intensity rises, we like our chances in that regard, too," Turco said. "We don't think much of them on a personal, character level. We think that's to our advantage."
Hmmm, perhaps Marty Turco has been so busy taking his foot out of his mouth, he hasn't had time to make a kick save.
Seriously, character is something you demonstrate, not talk about. I think the Wings put on a good demonstration last night.
