The four-game series kicks off tonight, with 4-0 Daisuke Matsuzaka taking on 2-2 Jeremy Bonderman.

Boston is living up to the preseason hype, coming in to tonight’s game in first place, and riding a three-game winning streak. Detroit, on the other hand, has been a shock to many. The Tigers have lost three straight, and are in last place in the tightly-packed AL Central.

My Thoughts: I think that the Red Sox will win easily tonight, going on to take three of four from the Tigers.

Monday
Bonderman 2-2, 3.86
Matsuzaka 4-0, 2.52
Prediction: Boston, 7-2

Tuesday
Robertson 1-3, 6.82
Wakefield 2-1, 4.03
Prediction: Boston, 6-5

Wednesday
Galarraga 2-1, 1.88
Buchholz 2-2, 3.71
Prediction: Detroit, 7-4

Thursday
Beckett 3-2, 4.19
Verlander 1-5, 6.28
Prediction: Boston, 6-3

Your thoughts?

yup.  if the wind is blowing out, they'll be some sore necks.

i can only hope wake can keep granderson off the bases.  and despite wake's numbers, i can't view his spot in the rotation as being guaranteed...

Sox haven't travelled well this year at all.  But, the good news is the Sox lead the league in come from behind wins and the Tigers bullpen is nothing short of a joke.  I'll be happy with a split, but expect 3/4.

Leyland hinted that Curtis will be batting somewhere in the middle of that lineup

not a bad idea imo...at least until the rest of that lineup hits like it should

The Saux will make Bonderman look like Cy Young pitching for the Boston Americans.

Sheff will bat sixth and play LF. Granderson, Palonco, Guillen, Ordonez, Cabrerra,Sheffield, Renteria, Joyce and Pudge is how I have heard it will be for tonight.

The Indians are missing a golden opportunity to take command of the division. They, like the Tigers, have had inconsistent pitching and hitting. It's looking more and more like the wildcard will come out of the east or west.

Pretty ballzy picking scores on baseball games. You'll probably get them all wrong. Just to be a contrarian, I'll pick a series split with the Tigers winning games 1 and 3.

After Bonderman's 27-pitch 1st inning in his last start ..and a trip to the mound from the skipper, he really settled down and started throwing that slider like he can.  We can only hope it carries over, Tiger fans, because we wont get much off of Dice-K...but lets remember the last time Leyland lost his temper, they responded so it should be a good series....take a split
