Peter King of CNNSI:
General Manager Mickey Loomis, from his bunker at Saints' headquarters just after 10 p.m. EST, said he didn't think he would accept any offers for USC superstar running back Reggie Bush prior to Saturday's noon start of the 71st NFL draft.
"He [Bush] is the No. 1 player on our board," Loomis said during a break in staff meetings at the Saints' facility. "He's the No. 1 player on a lot of teams' boards. To be truthful, I don't expect us to be moving the pick."

So the Saints, who earned the second-overall pick in the draft with a 3-13 record in 2005, appear poised to take the most explosive running back to come out of college football in years. If Bush is the pick, he'll add an explosive dimension to an offensive backfield that already has added free-agent quarterback Drew Brees in free agency. Bush would complement incumbent running back Deuce McAllister, who's returning from major knee surgeryI'm still trying to find the part where somebody is saying that we are drafting this guy to be our feature back. I keep seeing the word compliment. Which to me would mean they plan to use a tandem, but hell what do I know.

Doc (DR) and Light Brees...
i like the way you guys think. a couple months ago me and a buddy were saying Deuce was gonna be like the bus and end up with 12-14 TDs and about 130 total yards for the year. i'm all for it. let the kids (PT and Reggie run all over the field. and if they punch it in, then even better. but the goal line is where the Thunder and Anvil show takes over.
that's Deuce and Karney, in case you didn't know...

I tell you what Mud. You make us laugh bro or at least me anyway. Please keep it up!
82, man I respect your opinion, but it appears your not a big reggie fan. That's alright with me, but keep us in mind when he does well this season. And as for stats reggie played hurt for the last four games he played in and didn't play in the last two.
Also you talked about Deuce not being the featured back, but no one ever said he would be the featured back. Or at least not me.

And yet another analysis:
Negatives: Will flag the ball in traffic to keep his balance and loses the ball trying to be overly creative. Is not used heavily between the tackles — although he did not have to in a backfield with LenDale White — and is not a bellcow back. Production was aided by an outstanding offensive line that opened wide running lanes most backs could fit through. Showed he could be held in check vs. Texas in the National Championship game. Does not have great size and has not been asked to block a lot. Not overly powerful. Was not the primary option in short-yardage situations and is not going to bull his way through the line and surge through big-bodied tacklers. Has been best with a big, bruising complement who could wear down defenses, carry part of the workload and accentuate his strengths. Durability needs to be considered without great size
Wow, just read the underlined portion. It has been mentioned in his weaknesses that he is better when paired with a bigger back. So again, it's your own damn fault that you expected him to be a feature back, because after all the research I did on him back then, I expected him to be a playmaker, and he made his share of plays in his rookie season. Yeah he didn't do it in his second season, but niether did the rest of the team, but go ahead, continue to bad mouth, him.

Is capable of changing a game and must be gameplanned for. Hands are exceptional and route running crisp. Quickly closes cushion of defensive backs and can separate. Can be featured all over the field and give a creative offensive coordinator a versatile weapon. Can be so difficult to cover out of the backfield that he will draw attention as a decoy. Big-time playmaker who can string together moves.Seems like these are exactly the things and ways we used him in his first season. Due to the injury of Deuce in 2007, it made it a little bit more difficult to take advantage of his biggest strength, his versitility. That is what he was drafted for, to be a weapon, not to be " the feature back" That just what you and some other fans wanted him to be. So instead of hating on him for not being what you want him to be, trying being a little more supportive of the role that coaches having him playing, and the one he is most succesful at being.

And yet some more:
Bush is a player that everyone has been screaming about all season, and it's clear that he is an elite talent. He has good height for a running back and, while he is thinner than ideal for his height, within a season or two he will naturally add 10 pounds or so as all players do when they mature in their early 20s. Bush is similar to Marshall Faulk when he was a San Diego State star and he will be best utilized in the same type of role that Faulk has had in St. Louis. He is not going to be a running back in the NFL who gets 30-plus carries a game, but will eventually be able to handle 15-20 carries, 4-8 catches and return punts. Overall, Bush is going to make an immediate impact in the NFL with his ability to make game-changing plays once he is in the open field. While many people say you cannot risk using Bush as a returner, he is the type of returner who can change games and singlehandedly win the field position battle for his team.
He's best utilized when played like who? Don't see no ringing endorsments for him being a feature back yet. Still looking though

I completely agree with bygkev Reggie wasn't brought in to just be a running back and anyone who thinks that is well lets say extremely unimformed. Reggie is a unique talent and due to cirmcumstances last season the Saints had to use him in ways that didn't fit his skill set.
