I want the Flyers to win but imagine a Pens vs. Wings matchup.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen Vs. Malkin, Crosby, Hossa

Ozzie vs. Fleury

That right there would be a series to watch.

It pains me to say it, but I think the Flyers win game 1. The Pens came out flat in game 1 vs. the Rangers and fell behind 3-0 before coming back and pulling out the victory. I think the Flyers are going to come out a little more amped than the Pens. The recent news of Timonen going down already has their heads in the game and I think they have a bit more hatred for the Pens than vice versa. Flyers win this game 4-3.

Man I hope I'm wrong.

Well, that was an ... exciting? ... first period.  Both goalies were shaky at best, and the "D" stood for Disastrous for both teams.  The team that settles down first tonight will win.

god the Flyers started out so well then died down. Shaky D and Biron let in some softies..haha He has to play much better if my flyers have any chance of winning. Pitts defense did a great job after the first period. This loss hurts, but it shouldnt for long. My flyers have lost the first game in both series in rd 1 and 2..haha so i gotta be a lil more optimistic

The first period was very sloppy, but after that it was just a good, solid hockey game.  I'm just glad the Pens came out on top.  A little animosity there at the end, but both teams were tremendously disciplined the entire game ... although I'm not surprised.  Both teams have their eye on the big prize at this point ...

Game 2 is just as big as game 1 ... the Pens have got to hold home ice

Okay, here are my thoughts on the game.

I'm obviously disappointed by the outcome, but I think some good can be taken away from it.  All four Penguins goals were scored as a result of sloppy Flyers turnovers.  That is something that is correctable, they did correct it once the game went on.  I don't think the Flyers (or anyone) expected the Pens to go into a trap like that....and do such a good job of it.  Kudos to the Pens, but at least the Flyers know what to expect now.  They held Crosby in check pretty well, and his goal should have never happened from a Flyers perspective.  Bad turnover by Biron.  As for Malkin's second goal....really what can you do?  I actually thought the Flyers didn't do a bad job in the territorial battle...and they did a great job of limiting the Pens to 21 shots, but all that matters is the final score.  Still, that's something to take away from the game as a good thing.

But congrats to the Pens for the win tonight.  They played a good game after the Flyers second goal.  I can't wait for Sunday night.  I think there might be a different outcome.  (I hope.)
