Quote from Coburn himself: My left eye is swollen shut right now. I will keep the ice on itand get the swelling down and see what happens [today]."

So it doesn't sound too good. We'll see tomorrow.

Hey Rabiddog88, is your avatar Olgie Ogelthorpe from Slap Shot?

I really felt bad for Coburn and we know what it is like.  I thought both teams played pretty bad last night and I particullary was suprised on how tired the Flyers were in the Third period.  I think the physical part of the game is wearing them down.

I believe that for the Flyers to win the next game is to take the empahisis off the hitting and concentrating on charging the net instead.   Not to say that the Penguins are playing great, because they are not.  it is just too easy for Pittsburgh to get the puck out of their zone and the checking seems to be wearing the Flyers down especially because the shortcomings on defense.

I know that I prefer to see the Penquins win both games in Philadelphia, but I also feel that they need some work to reach the level that the winner will face with Detroit.  So I have mixed emptions.

I expect both teams to step it up on Tuesday, but I also hope they have something left in the tank for the third period.   Good Luck Flyers and "Lets go Pens"!!!!

I like Parent. He is really good one on one. He will not give us anything offensively but he will be solid on D. Randy Jones needs to step it up on the powerplay. I know he has some offensive talent I just wish he would show it. Well the Flyers seem to thrive off of adversity and I do not think the conditions could be anymore adverse than they are now. So hopefully they will put together a strong showing. Will Downie play? I hope so. He has a lot more to offer than Thoresen.

connect04,

Yes that's Ogie Ogilthorpe.

I think part of the problem with losing Timonen and Coburn is those guys can push the puck up the ice. The Flyers really don't have other defensemen other than maybe Randy Jones who can do that. I think what the Pens are doing is pinning the Flyers in deep and keeping them from breaking out and forcing turnovers. It looks like a solid game plan because the Flyers don't seem to be able to break out. Hatcher, Modry and Smith are doing what they can but they're slow so when they try to play the puck in the defensive zone the Pens attack on the forecheck and the Flyers are having a tough time getting past it.

I don't think the Flyers look tired. I think the Pens are playing well defensively and frustrating the Flyers. It's also tough to come from behind as the Flyers have been doing in the first two games. The Flyers only lead was just a couple of minutes in game one. In the first two rounds the Flyers did a good job scoring early. So far they have not been able to do that against the Pens.

Good luck to you too! I'm heading up to the game tomorrow and hope the Flyers can make a series of it. We'll see!

Let's Go Flyers!

Tick-tock ... tick-tock ... on five hours to go.  For me, this is the Wild card game ... I have no idea what to expect.  Either the Flyers will really make this series interesting, or the Pens will all but end it.  (Please hold off on the "duh" comments.)

I would like to see Coburn play, but it doesn't sound promising.  I don't know much about Parent, but I hear good things, so we'll see.  Ether way, I'm sure I will be on the edge of my seat for the first couple periods or so, and then pacing the rest of the way.  Nothing quite like playoff hockey ...
