What Rashard Mendenhall went through was a classic case of trial and error.  He was out at a time that some may consider questionable at best, and he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Plain and simple.

I remember when I was a young Sailor stationed in Panama back in the early-mid 90s and a similar thing happened to me in Colón, which is one of the most crime-ridden cities in Central America.  I had two guys approach me and one of them brandished a very large knife (machete).  They made off with $30 and my watch.  I was unharmed and only slightly shaken by the events that had transpired.  I was of the same mindset that nothing that I had on my person was worth risking my life for.  My wallet was eventually found by the local police (which was important because my military ID was in there) and returned to me.

I'm sure that Rashard will probably learn the same valuable lesson that I did back then and that is to be careful of your surroundings at all times.

I see that a few people are questioning that he was out at 2 am.... So what? Time isnt the issue here ; the fact the he decided not to identify the scum bags is a bigger issue with me. Why the secrets ?
