I'll admit i wanted James Hardy so much in the weeks leading up to the draft and was devistated when we passed on him and the Bills scooped him up.  But Henry is going to be a surprise to alot of people this year and will a big part of our red-zone offense.  Scouting reports say that he has tremendous hands and uses his body well to shield defenders.  His only criticism was his lack of speed and upper body strength, which will improve when he starts workouts with the team.  Either Chad or Clemens will have a field day tossing the ball up to this guy in the corner of the end zone and letting him jump for it, like Eli does with Plaxico.  This guy is going to be a great pick that goes under the radar until he starts catching some TD passes.

I've seen reports on his abilities and that he has the natural sense of screeening the defender away from the ball, some players take 2 years just to catch on to somethinh that basic, as far as him being compared to Plaxico, well for me thats quite a stretch. Is he capable of learning and eventually being a full time contributer to the team? Of course, but it's up to him, I like his size, and he has some nice hands. Lets see how defenses respond to him on the field, I mean we are nearing the point of truly being able to stretch a defense with four wide outs, plus using Keller as both receiver and tight end will be a nice a change to see just how much he pulls away from our other receivers in regards to defenders covering them. This year will be such a differance just because we have more and better weapons at our disposal. Plus if Coles does tweak a hamstring or stains a muscle, we can let him rest ,he doesn't have to be on the field all the time anymore. Depth is a great thing for us, plus we have backs who can catch also. I'm just waiting for the pre season games where we can get a look at our players in action. Henry I'm hoping follows the lead of Keller , and gets into the gym and bulks up some and gets into more of NFL shape to withstand the pounding ,and also to fight off the initial hit coming off the line and still maintain his timing in getting into his position and remain in time with his QB.

Don't get me wrong, because I love the potential that Marcus Henry can bring to the table, but I always find it tough to get excited over a rookie wideout!!! Situations like Randy Moss and Anquan Boldin don't happen too often...With that said, I don't even want to include Henry in the same sentence as those guys, but if he grabs more than 30 passes this season, I'll be completely shocked!! Heck even 20 might be asking much for a 6th rounder!! I love his size and 2 maybe 3 years down the road, he can help this ball club out, but this year I'll be excited for a 20-25 catch season with 1 or 2 TD's...

I think with the Jets re-vamped offensive line, once we get in the redzone, Thomas Jones and Tony Richardson are gonna take over...I really think the Jets are gonna be a grind'em out type of team...We have the big bodies and the big RB's!!!

Dustin Keller is gonna be a great threat off play-action!!!

i agree with ny finest...this year he will have a minimal impact as far as overall game play...he will help in the red zone for sure...but part of the scouting on him was that he dropped alot of catchable balls...we'll see

Henry is a nice big target.  I think management passed on a WR that high because they cost a lot to resign down the road.  I think they would rather take a position that commands less money where you can work plays in for them even if they aren't living up to expectations.

As far as Henry goes his biggest knocks were his speed and ability to make the tough catch in traffic.  I doubt he'll be the best guy to send across the middle to make the tough catch but A fade and quick slants where he can either jump or shield off the defenders will be his type of route.  As far as this year goes I say he'll catch 15-25 balls.  If he averages more then 1 a game I'd really be shocked.  If he gets a big number of catches two things are happening he's being a real asset or we have a lot of injuries.

Henry will have to prove himself on special teams the first couple of years.  I doubt he will be much involved in any offensive plays if any at all.  If he can play special  teams maybe the Jets will give him a shot but like most  in his skills position especially late rounders if he can't play special teams he will be cut , there are only 53 roster spots and the Jets will rather give that spot to someone who will make a difference.

nyjets2006,  i liked sweed also and also like  henry after reading up on him. . .you said "he is gonna be a target for clemens". . .maybe. . .but dont count chad out yet. Yes clemens has the better arm for the long ball.. . .but look at our free agent signings and draft picks. yes we improved our "o" line for both pass protection and the run game. . . but when you bring in a full back like Tony Richardson (look at his history), you are making a statement. ."smash mouth run football! Did we draft the home run threat wr? . no we took the best stretch/mid-range "reciever" in te keller. for us, just my opion, its gonna be all about moving the chains. . .right now in his career, clemens does not have the accurancy of chad in the 10-30 yard range and he's no where the play action qb that chad is. i wrote a simiiar post a few weeks ago about our corner situation stating " dont count Justin Miller out yet'
