Not only do the Lions cut Kevin Jones in the middle of his rehab, they go an draft a RB in the 3rd. Now to add insult to injury for KJ, guess what number Kevin Smith will be wearing next season. That's right... #34. Don't get me wrong, I understand letting KJ go and I think it was the right thing to do, but wow, they're not wasting any time erasing him from the collective memory of the organization.

Good one Swarm.
Who cares if Kevin Smith is wearing KJ's jersey, it's not like KJ was great. I'd be pissed if they let him wear Barry's number!!!!!

yeah well i dont even like the number, KJ, James Stewart, no one really played well with it in DET, and RB's around the league usually were , like 32 or something in the low 20's , like 20-26

I know, I'm not mad about it or anything. I think Smith will probably end up being better than KJ anyway. I just think its kinda funny that within the span of a couple of months Jones goes from being the unquestioned starter to being like he was never even here.

Cuttin Kevin Jones was a slap in the face to us fans. And then not signing T.J. Duckett to a $3million/2year contract was a slap in the face.
I would like to have seen a RB lineup of Kevin Jones, Kevin Smith, and Duckett. Way more exciting than Tatum Bell, Aveion Cason, Bran Calhoun, and/or Artose Pinner.

I thought that Duckett got a much larger contract than that from Seattle. I remember for sure that it was for 5 years and I thought the money was pretty high for someone that has never produced highly as a number one back. We tried to get some flashier free agents at RB like Michael Turner, TJ Duckett, Julius Jones , but they all went for huge amounts of money. Plus we probably would have had to throw even more money at them to get them to play in Detroit. Sort of like what happened with Dan Morgan and Jonathan Vilma.

KJ had his moments, but he just couldn't stay healthy to save his job. Falcon you bring up Vilma which yes I wanted badly. Vilma though had the final say in which team he was willing to play on. We offered pretty much the same thing as the Saints offered. His decesion but I hope he regrets it in a couple of years. This year like any other I wipe the slate clean of former players and root for players that actually play for the Lions. Forget the past look in the present. Go Lions

Yeah, I think Duckett got 5 years/$25 million, but he was only waiting for the Lions to offer him a 2 year $3 million deal to stay, but they never offered him a contract, for whatever reason. The Lions could have had him signed WAY before he even visited Seattle.
