I know I started a similar thread about JCribbs but here goes. I know we still could use a wr, cb and s. Kasper has good size (6-1, 202) great speed (4.3-40) Could be a good 4th or 5th reciever to carry. May even be able to help on D as a dime back. Hes an excellent special teamer too. I know its probably not the best of ideas in the world, but if we could maximize the last couple of roster spots that we have it would really benefit the team.
dogside - Along with Kasper, URFA WR Leggett is just as big and fast. I'd try them out both out as dime back. Also WR Hughes has experience as a DB. Leggett and Hughes also have KR/PR experience. I can't recall whether Kasper has as well.
Guys clevelandbrowns.com actually has an article about Kasper featured right now. He's 30 years old and he's played for about 8 teams. He's never played defense in college or pros so I'd say the chances of a position change to defense are slim. But the story says he has extensive experience in the pros returning kicks and playing special teams, both things he didn't do in college. That does tell me that he'd be willing to try DB if asked.
Dawgdaze you mentioned WR Hughes has experience playing DB. I heard he also has experience playing RB and he is listed as wearing #34. Along with RB Travis Thomas from ND who also played some LB in college it sounds like they are looking for versatile players. Maybe Romeo is trying to take a page out of the Bellichik playbook.
And dogside you are right on the money, maximizing those last few roster spots is one of the hallmarks for good teams. That's where the GMs and the coaching staffs really earn their pay.
dogside - Although Kasper has been in the league only 6 years, I just realized that he is already 31 y.o. Unfortuanately the NFL does have age discrimination. I don't think the Browns will spend time developing him as a DB.
