Since I figured everyone would pick Chipper, I left him off, but I was wondering with our recent struggles with the jacks full, who would you want up. I voted for Yunel.
I voted for McCann. He has the best career numbers in a bases loaded situation. He is .348 with 4 homers. Kelly had a slightly higher average, but fewer RBI's. He did have fewer situations though. I would still like McCann. GO Braves!
Mark Texeria, Homeruns are the most looked at stat with the bases loaded. BOOM that's 4 runs right there. McCann and Francoeur are good also. Texeria is probably the 2nd best homerun threat on the team, but right now that is debateable.
I would like to see a guy that would just knock in a run everytime and Escubar would be that guy. So with 2 outs i would like to see Escubar up to bat.
I've got to say Escobar. I just love the way he plays. He's got a great swing and a good approach at the dish. Like I used to describe his predecessor Renteria, he's a professional hitter. Just plain gets the job done. Maybe not with the GSHR like Mac does, but I would put him up there with the best hitters on the team (excluding Chipper who is out of everyone's league as he's been doing this for years now).
With Chipper Jones not in the equation, to me it came down to either Brian McCann or Yunel Escobar. I love Yunel's approach at the plate and I think the kid is solid and will be a star in this league, but for me the choice was B-Mac. The guy is such a smart hitter and he uses all fields. He is clutch.
I'll take Mac with the bases loaded. He doesn't strike out and he hits alot of line shots and fly balls; but I really want Chipper left-handed with the bases loaded.
