Why is the Rams Superbowl walkthrough a big deal, and the 2002 AFC Championship game barely even mentioned?
Wich, by the way was a 24-17 upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the same cheating that they were concerned about against the Rams in the Superbowl.
If the NFL says this is no big deal, and they already knew, then I'd like to hear what Bill Cowher and the Steelers fans think. I am not a Steeler fan, but f any of you out there read this, tell me... what do you think of being cheated out of he '02 Superbowl berth?

I am a huuuuuuge Steelers fan and this bothers me a lot. Why does the league only care about the teams they might have cheated in a Super Bowl and not about the other teams they cheated along the way?? I think there is more to this, in fact I'm sure of it, I've been saying for years something was fishy about a team going from the worst in the league at 5-11 to suddenly the following year winning a Super Bowl and starting a dynasty, but I'm sure Goodell has already made sure he covered it up pretty good by destroying all the evidence, this is a joke and an outrage though, they should be stripped of any wins that they have factual evidence that they cheated and that should include last years game agains't the Jets, destroying their supposed "perfect" regular season.

I am wondering if anyone has checked Mr. Walsh's offshore bank accounts to see if there have been any recent transactions from the Kraft or Belichick family. I agree with you ace about having all those games forfeited which would in turn cause for them to forfeit their Super Bowl win.
As an extra punishment, they should ban Belichick and force Tom Brady to play for Miami. Then not only would we all see he is only as good as the system and the Patriots would be screwed like how they screwed us NFL fans out of what we believed to be legitimate football.
And Patriots fans wonder why non Pats fans hate the team so much!

I am a Steelers fan and remember that loss all too well! I have always believed something was not right with the Patriots all of a sudden becoming this great team. Any team can be great when they have the other teams signals. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE NFL FINDS THIS ACCEPTABLE. Cheating is cheating. WIthout those signals, the outcome of that game could have been very different. Believe me, Steeler Nation probably has alot to say about this one. COME ON GOODELL.........SERVE SOME JUSTICE TO THE CHEATERS!!!!!!!!!!
I doubt the NFL would want the fans to think that they allow this behavior in the league. A league that is looked upon as the "fairest" The Patriots and Belicheck have tarnished this image and tarnished peoples love of the game!

Before everyone explodes - the cheating that is disclosed in these tapes is the SpyGate stuff that's been told over and over since September. During games they taped the opposing defensive signals and maybe they were able to use that to their advantage, but that was what they've admitted to and what they were fined for before..... the fact that one of the games was a playoff game doesn't make it any different (especially since they admitted to doing this is most of their games over that period of time). Yes they cheated, yes they really screwed up - but they've been penalized significantly by the league and that's in the books, so let this go and lay off of the Patriots as they've been punished enough for this....
What would have been different about the walkthrough is that a walkthrough is a closed practice where no Patriot employees should have been, and it is an event which would give a team the advantage of knowing what the overall plan for the game is (so they can plan ahead to counter it) and what the first few plays likely will be. Claims of this type of espionage have never been supported by any proof - not for the Rams Superbowl walkthrough, nor the AFC championship game, nor any other game. Until some proof shows up that indicates that they did cheat in this second fashion, nothing is going to change and there is no reason for a witchhunt now....

No stolen defensive signal caused the Steelers to absolutely blow their special teams coverage that day. That's why the Pats won that game. Check the tape. Matt Walsh says he's got a copy. lol

What about the cheating the Steelers did in super bowl 40 , and all the cheating they did to get there. One can talk about the pats cheating to get to the superbowl 37 and all i have to say is the steelers did the same thing in 2006 with the officials. I believe if Carson Palmer wasnt tooken out of the game yall would have lost the first round. I'am not defending the Patriots but i am saying that the steelers fans have no room to talk about cheating in the super bowl.

Why don't Beeeleecheat and the Patriots fall into the same category as Pete Rose in the eyes of the media and with the NFL? Rose betted, but was never proven to cheat. In fact, cheating against the Steelers in the AFC Championship game is far worse than anything Rose ever did. Thank god the Jets brought this to light and I hope that this bogus "dynasty" will be tarnished forever.

The Steelers did not cheat in SBXL. If the refs made some bad calls, its called part of the game!. Do you have any idea how many times the steelers have been screwed over by bad calls? How many times has your team been screwed by bad calls? That is not cheating, just bad judgement and eyesight from the refs. The steelers made one hell of a run to that superbowl!!!!!! dont be jealous.

According to the media reports, the taping of the AFC Championship game only would have helped the next time the teams met, Opening Day 2003. The Pats won that game, but Steelers' fans have to blame that loss on bad quarterbacking, not because the Pats offense knew the defensive calls.
And if you watched that AFC Championship game, Kordell Stewart threw 3 pickles and the Pittsburgh Special Teams coverage was AWFUL (remember Troy Brown's punt return for a TD?).
And the accusation with Pete Rose was that he bet on his own team and threw games for money. Thats a little different than a videotape.

elric this is no witchhunt. the league if anything has tried its best to cover this up. You do not find anything suspiciuos in the fact Goodall decided to destroy any evidence he had? Something here doesnt smell right. the depth of this cheating goes further than any of the public will be allowed to know.
You response of 'maybe' it could help then is just not a great thought. Bill B would not go to these lengths for a maybe. A group of professional NFL coaches could easily ascertain information matched up with audio to determine calls. Granted a walkthrough is on a different level but they are both still cheating to gain an unfair illegal advantage. If the Pats werent a dynasty this wouldnt be an issue. But to get caught cheating then admit it in the middle of a the run they are having know is not a conicedence. One thing directly effects the other.

If anyone has actually followed the story, instead of just jumping on a bandwagon, they will know the tapes were not used during the games. The tapes video taped the coaches signals and then the play clock to capture what the situation was. It was then matched up to the game tape which is received by both teams after the game. This was usually done on Thursday or Friday after the game. It was never looked at in the game. There was also cheerleaders on the tapes as well. The video taping was not illegal, where they were standing was. And remember, the Jets were caught taping the Patriots in their playoff game 2 years ago.
I think it is hilarious how all the Steelers fans are saying there was something fishy because there was no way a team could go from 5-11 to winning Super Bowls. Upsets happen all the time. The Patriots first win over the Rams was an upset, but the Giants win over the Pats was an upset. Turnarounds happen all the time. The Steelers went 6-10 in 2003 and then went 15-1 in 2004. Was that cheating? No, it was the Steelers playing better football, except they lost in the AFC Championship game to th | |
