Notice that of the 15 players picked on the 3 all star teams, only 4 are from the (l)east conference. One has to wonder why, year in and year out, the management and coaches of the teams in the East are so pathetic in drafting and developing talent that can match what the West can put up.
in terms of drafting new talent...i really have no idea why the east seems to fall behind..but i wouldnt attribute the difference between east and west to drafting alone..i think it has more to do with the west being better and therefore staying better because players would rather be on good teams so when given the choice they'd rather play for the western conference....i guess??
glr717 - you make a good point, but honestly I think it's kind of overblown in a sense at least when it comes to the 3 all NBA teams.
These teams have a combined total of 15 players. That's not very many.
Whether in the East or West there are many young players who've been drafted in recent years who aren't superstars (which most of those 15 are or are pretty close to that level), but are pretty decent players ie not garbage draft picks.
Teams in both conferences make good and bad draft picks that pan out well or not so well.
Just sayin' that these 3 teams selections don't really have an correlation to how well teams draft.
