Elling cannot write a positive syllable about anybody, except of course for one. He obviously is a lost man without the object of his affection in town this week.

Why do we need a negative column by Elling? He was going to trash whoever happened to be leading, regardless of who it was.  Elling sarcastically derides Sergia writing "....Garcia became the king of the irrelevant closing runs, like when he shot 67-66 on the weekend last year at Sawgrass to finish a backdoor second, even though he was never remotely in contention."

If Elling wanted to talk about a "backdoor second" in a tournament, how about the one last month? If he wants to mention an irrelevant closing run made by a golfer who was NEVER remotely in contention the entire weekend, how about last month? Better yet, when has "rear view" Woods ever made a closing run?  At least Garcia made a run, Steve. If Woods is in your rear view mirror On Saturday, you need not be concerned with him anymore, and certainly not on Sunday.

Is this the best stuff Elling can come up with? Garcia will likely not win this weekend, but that is not the point. Elling is going to rip, demean and marginalize the effort of whoever wins. He will snipe at whoever is leading Friday and Saturday. Steve would be better suited and happier hanging around the Woods household on a stakeout, and giving us all updates on  the condition of his knee. He might even be lucky enough to riffling and sniffing through a bag of Tiger's trash.

Actually, Elling was extremely kind to Sergio, because if he was calling it like it is he could have written that Sergio is an overhyped, 2nd rate Club Pro with an entitlement attitude. At best he should be carrying Wie's bag for her explaining what an one hit wonder means. Opps correction - what an ALMOST ONE hit wonder means.

As far as your Woods backhanded comments go, they are at best laughable and ceratinaly not worthy of a response other than "Scoreboard".

Why would anyone want to say anything positive about Sergio?  It seems Sergio rarely has anything to say positive about his peers.  He's got to be one of the most unlikeable guys on the PGA Tour.  I am surprised wrote a piece on him at all.

Maux,

Don't you love all these Tiger Woods fans? If you say one thing negative about him, and positive about another guy on the tour, all they can do is point to the scoreboard.

Why can't people just get off his jock? Yes, Woods is a good golfer, probably the best on tour. But no matter how much you defend him he's never going to sleep with you, or even call you. He doesn't know who you are, so why worry so much about what other people's opinions are.

You guys say Sergio is a jerk on tour, but I've seen Tiger be a spoiled little b*tch a number of times. I'd rather be a man and speak my mind like Sergio then piss and moan like Tiger. He's like the Kobe Bryant of golf. Either way, everyone on tour is just a bunch of rich cry babies.
