Say Jeff Backus struggles again this year, is it time to let him go and put Jonathan Scott in. He played well against Aaron Kampman last  year, the only  tackle on the Lions who could handle him in the Thanksgiving game. He good size for a Left tackle and he will be experinced. Should he be our left tackle of the future or do we draft one next year?

They say he is athletic enough to excell in zone blocking.

Backus isnt going anywhere. I really dont think Backus struggled that bad. It was really all a product of Martz f---y O.  When did we ever max, protect? What about a 3 step drop? 7 step drops, wait, wait,wait,....no backs in to help.  Also no balance. Hey DE's speed rush every time, dont worry about the run the Lions wont keep you honest. Do you realize what a disadvantage that puts an O-lineman at. Especially a tackle.  Backus is a good lineman, he will be back strong. Never missed a game, he's a rock.

I hope backus comes back strong this year because i like him. but ever time i watch games from last year i constantly see him getting beat. I thought it was only by speed rushes to, but then i saw bull rushes where they get under him and throw him back. I think if he struggles again this year they will try scott to see what they have. if they aren't convinced by either then i think we will be drafting another o lineman in the first round

well maybe Backus struggled because the only real linemen Detroit had were Dominic Raiola, Damien Woody, and      & nbsp;       ;      &nb sp;       Edwin Mulitalo who was still gettin to know his fellow  linemen, it just takes time and sometimes bad apples to leave the bunch ... i just hope Jeff Backus is decent, nevermind great or even good,  its like a court date, just set your expectations low, that way when game time comes you wont be to dissappointed or to let down, and hey he might actually come through this year and pancake anyone who comes near him, WHO KNOWS

by the way Jonathan Scott is fairly decent he just needs an opportunity to come through, ive always like that name too...it just sounds like a linemans name, i dunno

Well that might be good for Rich Rodriguez at Michigan.  But for the Lions they have no need for that.  The Lions are slow and stupid.
