Apparently the dude gave one of his coaches a concussion by beeming him in the head during practice. Ouch.  Bodes good for arm strength, and we already know he is smart.  All we need is for Cam to develop his decision making ability.

That arm means nothing, Boller had a cannon thats why we drafted him remember?. BUT that doesnt necessarily mean that it was another bad pick. I put faith in Boller when he was drafted and hes been a letdown, but I cant really flame Flacco till I see what he can do on in the game.

What I do like in his game footage is his mechanics are good, at 6'6" he moves like Troy Smith and he has a superfast read and delivery. However I dont know how this will translate to our recievers who dont do the best job of separating and our O-line which seems to let in 3 defensive linemen on each snap.

Reign makes a very good point. The arm means nothing, its a fantastic bonus if the QB has everything else going for him. I think Flacco has a lot of potential, but Boller had just as much potential if not more at one time. Its not that Boller sucks, i think its that he was drafted by the Ravens. A smart team would've drafted him and let him learn on the bench for a while, then put a veteran near him to teach him, and give him a great coaching, protection, and players around him. And Boller had none of this so it isn't a surprise how he turned out.... this is exactly what happened to David Carr.

We can only hope we don't do the same thing to Flacco, at least we changed the coaching, which is a start. Flacco has an incredible arm, but so does Boller. Thats why we drafted Boller, cuz he threw the length of a whole football field on his knees. But something people say is different about Flacco is that he has a lot of the other qualities that you need in a franchise QB. The small things you just can't coach. Hopefully things will work out for us. I hope Boller and Smith get a chance to prove themselves for the next year or two and Flacco is only given the start when he is truly ready.

Flacco scored very high on the wonderlic, while boller was barely average..... thats an important thing when it comes to being an nfl qb.....

I wouldn't put much stock into the wonderlic. Apperently Vince Young got a 7 or something, and he almost got the Titans in the playoffs his first year, and managed to get them in, in his second year.

Vince Young wasn't impressive last year, he got them into the playoffs his rookie season but the Titans got into the playoffs last year DESPITE vince young's performance IMO. They had a steady running game and an even better D.

The Titans reached playoffs despite having Vince Young.

He had the worst passer rating of any QB last year, I think it was 8 touchdowns and 20ints? sure his recievers arent great but he has the best tackle duo in the league and a good running game to work off.

SO FAR SO GOOD FOR FLACCO

Posted by Mike Florio on May 12, 2008, 7:05 a.m.

After his first taste of life as a quarterback in the NFL, Joe Flacco isn’t flustered by the leap from the Delaware Something-Or-Others to the Baltimore Ravens.
