With so many elite NBA Guards today, who do you believe is the best? It is a difficult choice, because each player has their unique quality's about them. Factor in everything, who you would want most on your team, which player would you start a team around, which of these is the most valuable to their team?

Crazedrat1,

I don't think this question is that difficult to answer. Certainly not as difficult as the front court question you posed. Kobe Bryant is not only the right answer, but the only answer. I immediately disqualify Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Too young. Steve Nash is still good and great on some nights, but his better days are slowly slipping away. T-Mac is good but not great. He flashes brilliance but I just don't think he has greatness in him. Chauncey Billups isn't even in Kobe's league though its nice to mention him. Manu is interesting, but not really that close. The only player that I could see putting on Kobe's level from your list would be Dwyane Wade, but he's too damn fragile and unreliable (can we call him injury prone yet?).

Kobe is the best player in the league regardless of position.

For once, Scoreface, I  completely and unequivocally agree with everything you just posted.

Thank you Jazzman. I was beginning to think you were grading all of my posts today like a pain in the arse high school history teacher. Its good to know I played the right notes, at least once.

Naahh, my man, you know your ball and you know the league.  I sometimes disagree with you partially and a few times totally.  But, it's never ever mean spirited.  This time, I had nothing to add, nothing to detract.  I thought it was worth noting.

I actually chose Chauncey Billups. He is deffinetly not as talented as Kobe Bryant or Dwayne Wade but if I was going to start a team, Billups is the best choice I think. Its it harder to find a great point guard in college than it is to find a good shooting guard. Billups is deffinetly a better leader that Kobe and always stays out of trouble. I also would take "Mr. Big Shot" over D-Wade because I'm not sure D-Wade would stay healthy long enough to get the teams moral up. You guys can rag on me all you want , if I could pick one guys up there to start a team around , it would be Chauncey Billups.

I would have to say Kobe first and Paul second.

Kobe is hands down the best choice, nothing more needs to be added to that.

Paul on the other hand is the player on the rise who is not even close to his prime. He seems so far, to be a PG that has that pass first mentality, that is what could carry him to be a great PG in the near future.

Great thread BTW
