A lot of talk is being heard about how bad this Padre team is.  I am even hearing talk about firing managers.  Thank god the people who play the game don't give up this easy.  The players are gripping right now but are still motivated and giving it there all.  Here are some positive trends for you Padre faithful to think about.

In the month of May
A Gonzo  .387 avg with 3hr
Kouz  .419 avg
Mcanulty .538 avg
Giles  .280 with OBP of .419
Iguchi .280
Edmonds .278

Obvious trends for a team vastly improving.  Also, in May (Traditionally a great month for Padres) our schedule is not that difficult except Cardinals and Cubs .. Mets at end of the month.  Put a string of winning series together and Padre fans will be feeling a little better.   This is a long, long season.  If your ready to throw it in now maybe you should root for the Angels.

Padres record is 1-5 in the month of May thus far, screw your theory that the Padres are traditionally good in the month of May. Two good Mays in a row doesn't make it a tradition. The tradition the Padres have is always letting down their fans. Let's be realistic here...I am a long-long time Padres fan, but I never expect much out of them because they have never proved themselves to be winners. They can be entertaining at times, but that's it... Let's face it, we are not the Diamondbacks or Marlins... We don't have young talent here or on the way that can sneak in and take a World Series or two for the Padres.

Gwynn19- why don't you look at the schedule again: we don't even play the Mets until June...

I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but I can't wait for football season to start.

I just don't see how the offense gets appreciably better! Last year, we had lights out pitching (until the end) and a less than stellar offense. This year, it seems we've regressed after losing Cameron.  At least Cameron was streaky and could carry a team for a short duration. Now we have guys like Crabbe and Gerut to try to man CF.

Get some young blood in that will grow with the team... these guys aren't the solution. With that said, bring in Headley and see if we can get the offense kick-started... and get us back in the hunt if the D-backs fall back to the pack. It's a long season and anything can happen...

I was really excited at the beginning of the year, but the 'Dres are in a big time slump that shows no signs of abating. They'll have to seriously turn things around to get me back to the ballpark for very many more games this year. Seriously, I can't even stand to watch right now on TV for free.
