Wouldn't it be a great story if this guy came in this season and had a breakout year, I mean he has never really had the chance to show all he can do and if he could stay healthy you never know. Thoughts?

It just wasn't meant to be. From the knee injuries to getting shot in the stomach. One bad turn after the next.

Jerome McDougle is STILL my favorite 'finger-pointing victim'.  The guy doesn't seem to have an NFL-caliber body.  (OK, I cut some slack for the gunshot).  He has been continuously hurt throughout his career with one thing or another.  The Eagles got bamboozled when they used a #1 on him, as did the Lions when they picked his brother, Stockar McDougle.  Both brothers were definitions of the word "bust".  Now Jerome DID have one VERY memorable hit during his brief time on the field.  Eli Manning, I am sure, has not forgotten it.  Philly was trouncing the Giants, when late in the second half, Manning makes his NFL debut.  Two touchdowns later, the NYG have climbed back into the game with time running out.  On what was clearly the last play of the game, Manning started running for his life.  He zipped around his right tackle and got slammed by McDougle.  It looked like he ran into a wall.  I am answering this post , solely on the basis of that hit.  It was not quite Sheldon Brown on Reggie Bush, but not too far from it.

Back on topic--In fact--YES::: I would be ecstatic if Jerome had the kind of year you started the thread with.  I am more inclined to think BishopJuice called  this one, though.

Yeah, i understand that most likely it is not going to happen, it would just be a great story for a guy who has gone through a lot of injuries and i'm going to root for him to make the team.

I agree this star has not had the chance to shine! With what the Eagles have on the defensive line and how johnson rotates, I would love to see him have a great year to help their aging secondary

i think he had a decent chance. dude has appeared in 33 games... only 3 sacks

He's almost 30 now... not ancient but old enough to make him irrelevant for what Eagles want to do this year at DE.

i'll totally agree that he's had some really tough times with injuries and being freakin' shot...

does he really fit in at all with our D-line? I mean were would he fall? Cole, Parker, Clemons, Abiamiri, and now Smith. Depending on how J. Parker, Clemons and the young Victor and B. Smith look in camp... i could pretty much fall in love with that group. I can't see McDougle or even maybe Howard sticking around much longer.

there's a good shot IF Eagles don't keep him he could get picked up and used as ok depth for another team. Maybe Vikings.. they could still use depth and they've got Brad there helping call the shots...
