It amazes me that these sports writers write all these thing about new QB's when they have no preassure in their face, I know alot of qb's that have strong arms and look good in mini camps but when it comes to real time they look like a deer in headlights (Joey Harrington, Ryan Leaf). Dont write about them until its real game time and than lets see what they think about these qb's.

I fully concur with your assessment.  Notwithstanding the fact that the Ravens reached a bit to get this kid (he most likely would have been on the board had they stayed put at No. 26), the true test will come in September IF he ends up getting the starting job.  With Ogden most likely retiring (not sure how effective he'd really be if he came back), I see problems with him keeping his back side protected.  He also moves around in the pocket even less than McNair was last year before he got injured (James Harrison had an all-world game against the Ravens on that Monday night game) and reminds me a bit of Drew Bledsoe in that regard.  With you being a Cowboys fan, you're probably intimately familiar with that situation.

I agree.  I can't believe all of the hyperbole wasted on rookies who haven't even played a preseason game!

I always liked Bledsoe but I never really watched his games close until he was a Cowboys and than Man did he ever Throw some Bad int's so that changed my mind from being a pretty good Qb to a little above average.

I have no idea how you would cover a newly drafted QB, unless it's Ryan Leaf, and not say something positive.

Every Ravens fan can be conflicted at this time of year.  We are all hoping that this guy Flacco plays half as well as Johnny U. (BTW how does he rate only 5th on NFL Network's list of top ten all time clutch QBs?)  We are all hanging on every expression the guy makes during plays and want to find some good in each moment he does something right.

This, however, is the Ravens and we are the team that had Vinny Testaverde for a Pro-Bowl season and that was it.  We are the team that could not live with Trent Dilfer because all he did was not make mistakes--what does that say about Billick as a coach.  We are the team that gave Scott Mitchell a chance and then threw Boller into the starting role as a rookie in one of the toughest divisions, not to mention schedules, in the NFL.

Spring is tough if you are Ravens fan because we are also the team that drafted some of the all time great players--J.O., Ray Ray, and now Reed the Deed.  We have hope, because QB seems to be the only position that eludes us and that can't go on forever.
