He should be cheered!

......

For what?

Taking care of his family, and putting them first.

I'm getting sick of all these narrow minded views about the Derick Fisher situation. The Jazz fans do no boo him for leaving to take care of his daughter. Never mind that Salt Lake has one of the worlds BEST Cancer facilities in the Huntsman's Cancer Institute (look it up). We boo Fisher for wearing the purple and gold. That's all. I mean do you want us to cheer the man as he's kicking our ass up and down the court? You all need to get over it and drop it. Jazz fans boo the Lakers. It's nothing new.

LAKER FANS READ THIS

The Jazz fans weren't booing because he put family first, but if his daughter is getting medical treatment in NEW YORK CITY then why would he want to move to L.A.  which is FARTHER from NYC than Salt Lake City is???? He gave the Jazz the assumption that he was going to go to play in New York for his daughter, as she was getting treatments for her cancer in NEW YORK CITY.. But then instead of going to NYC, he went with the Lakers! Tell me is New York City and LA that same town? No, then if i was a Jazz fan, I'd be a little upset that he LIED to them, He used his daughter to get out of SLC. As someone else said dont get Derek Fisher the player and Derek Fisher the father mixed up.

If Andrew Bynum had a son that had a cancer, and he said he wanted to go to Seattle, but wound up going to Boston, wouldn't you guys be upset too? I sure would be

SO stop giving the jazz fans grief for heckling fisher.

Derek Fisher the father- Great man

Derek Fisher the player- Liar....

That simple

Taking care of his family, and putting them first.

Aboy4Christ - we are talking about a tense, playoff game here. I'm sorry the Jazz fans make you "sad" or come across as uncivil because they didn't take the time to acknowledge Derek Fisher's commitment to his family.

Do you understand the simple fact that they were booing him as a player? Or have you already formed an opinion that cannot be changed?

I think that the circumstances allow the Lakers fans to be upset at the Jazz fans giving Fisher grief.  I also think the circumstances allow for the Jazz fans to boo Fisher during the game; as many great players have been booed.  They gave him an ovation and clearly showed they appreciated the time he was there.  Once the game started, booing if fair game for anyone not a Jazz player.  It's called "homecourt advantage".

I have no idea what Fisher's intentions were when he left Utah.  It appears to me that he put his family needs first and his career second.  In the beginning, I believe Fisher was upfront about a couple places in which had hospitals specific to his daughter's needs and LA was one of them.  I believe that Utah should be commended for their ability to see Fisher's family before his career.  I believe Fisher should be commended for the same thing.  I also believe that LA should be commended for getting him back.  I do not think there should be ill feelings anywhere around this issue.  Although clearly there is.  It is a shame too.

Whoosh, you're right,  there should be no bad blood. Jazz fans are booing Fisher as a Lakers player. Simple. It is time to move on.

I think its an indictment of how immoral Lakers fans are, that they booed Carlos Boozer during this series. His son had a Bone Marrow transplant at the beginning of this season, so the Laker fans decided to boo him. Disgusting. I even saw a sign that said  "Boozer is a Loser"... obviously refering to the younger Boozer who is fighting Sickle Cell Anemia. You Laker fans make me sick! Classless.

Actually ...

Some of you make very good points (Jazz fan's), and my opinion has changed a bit. There are still some, but I now think very few that are malicious in their stance to him.

So thanks!

And ... the last game (4), I saw no dis respect to him.
