Well, I'm an Atlanta Braves fan, and I am starting to develop a new problem with the New York Mets.  The problem is, I'm starting to respect some of their fans on this site and now I almost feel bad cheering against them.  I will never be a Mets fan, but this problem better not get worse.  I need to find a way to talk trash on the Mets, without harrassing.  Some Red Sox and Yankees fans manage it, but most just come off as D-Bags.  Any advice?

I've noticed this as well LJ.  The Mets fans here seem very knowledgable and for the most part respectful.  I think they understand a good ribbing here and there and would appreciate reciprocating the favor on the Mets winning nights.

I think EMTB and I have a pretty decent relationship without much d-baggery. Same thing with MASPETHMETSFAN and ReyesforMVP. Maybe it's not to bitter because the rivalry never really started kicking in until this year, maybe it's because all of us are decent people.

If it makes you feel any better, just imagine that Sal Pacino is still here.

come to think of it...that probably would make it easier for me to bash on the Mets again.

I miss Sal.

And as with any team that gains rapid popularity and loses it, the idiot fans come and then move on to another team.  It happened to the Brewers last year... it'll happen to some team this year

I've had some similar thoughts about a few Braves fans as well. Same with bwest and Philsfan, a few other too many too mention in one thread. There can be respected yet still heated rivialries with out getting out of control. Give and Take!

The Mets fans that are posting here on a daily basis really are level headed people. They aren't overly confident in the team thinking that the Mets will win it all no matter what. We like the rivalries that are built within the division and respect the teams too.

And the reason why we aren't dirtbags is beacuse at the end of the day it is only a game. There are more important things than winning and losing for your favorite baseball team that you aren't even getting paid to be part of.

I love being a fan, and a fan of the Mets. I think the fans are awesome personally. And I'm proud to say i'm a Mets fan. I like chatting it up with you guys becuase you will give us Mets fans the same respect about us and our teams as we will you guys.

The problem lies with guys like PH who has this personal vandetta for some reason against the Mets and the New york sports scene in general. He really doesn't give two ounces of respect to any Mets fan, so why would any Met fan give him the respect back in return?

Don't get me wrong here though. There are Mets fans on this board that are pompus buffoons and really give us a bad name, but they don't join in the daily conversations with us.

By the way, The Braves and Phillies looked really good today vs some awesome baseball teams.

I don't know what it is, but every year, the Braves have a crappy team that they should dominate, but can't.  last year they lost to the Reds I think 6 times.  The freaking reds!  If we would've won 5 of those, thatr's the playoffs for us.  This year we have swept the Reds, but lost 4 times already to those all mighty Pirates!  I don't get it.

And I'm starting to think I am a curse.  My favorite basketball team is the Utah Jazz. Who had the best home record, but were a disgrace on the road.

The braves have the best home record, and the worst away record.

Go Figure.

yeah, here is some advice

realize that when a braves fan speaks, it holds about as much weight as Admiral James Stockdales opinions in that political debate some years ago

save your crying and moaning about how Red Sox and Yankee fans dominate these boards

it isnt our fault there are about two other braves fans in here

fyi, you are now acting like a dbag, welcome to the club

Way to totally ignore the gist of the thread here. A bit sensitive?

Really? I'm on a bad streak. Either that's a common excuse, or I'm just off today. Probably me.

Yes, it is. It is still one of the greatest team accomplishments in the history of sports.
