Wow if you would of said the word sweep will happen this weekend I would of said it is the D Backs doing it. Amazing I just don't know what to say after that amazing sweep of the D Backs the best team record wise in the majors heading into the series!!!!!!

There are a number of reasons I was dreading this series the first is the Cubs where playing flat out bad baseball heading into it. The second is the D Backs had the best record in the majors. But the biggest reason is the D Backs always and I mean always seem to own us!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully this is a sign that the latter reason is coming to an end cause it is about time we start beating up on the D Backs for crying out loud!!!!!! I will take it and be thankful we didn't have to face Owings, Webb, or Johnson in this series so we lucked out slightly there but hey a sweep is a sweep!!!!!!!!!

And what great baseball we played really in all 3 games winning a 3-1 nail bitter with a great pitching and hitting performance by Lily!!!! Then getting a great outing from Dempster seemingly looking like we might blow it until the huge 6 run 7th inning and then today to put the icing on the cake of 3 come from behind wins!!!!!!!!!!

Let's keep this up Cubs as we are now back on top of the central!!!!!!!!!!

The board seemed dead this weekend maybe due to the holiday no game threads for the last two great games of this series. Anyways let's go take care of the Padres now they are another one of those pesky NL West teams that we have had problems with in the past!!!!!!! 3 of 4 hopefully!!!!!!! Then beat up on the Pirates again!!!!!!!!!

I don't really know how much more my nerves can take, but if its going to take the Cubs playing Cardiac Kids all season to win us a ring, I'll take it. I strongly believe that with the team gelling the way they are, the Cubs are finally the NL team to beat. It feels great to no longer be the Central's punching bag! GO CUBS!

I wouldn't jinx them that way. The are playing very well right now and I hope the hot streak keeps going. The Pads are punchless but don't take them lightly. They looked better after Mad dogs win. Also they have 2 lefties in Wolf and Estes (Good for Estes on making it back after his injury) with Peavy following. If we can take 2 of 3 and go into the Pirates on a roll they should get some momentum going into the summer.

First Place Baby!!! Back where we belong.

Are the Cubs going to be a streaky team? Win 9 or 12, then lose 5 of 7? I hope not. You don't know what you will have going into the playoffs. Consistency is the better way. Every month, just be 3 games over .500, and the division will be ours.

Big Z seems to be the stopper we need. Should not have more than a 3-game losing streak with our starting pitchers. Should also be able to put together many 3 or 4-game winning streaks, and win most series throughout the season.

Win 9 or 12, then lose 5 of 7?I don't think we'll bee too streaky... I think we have the ability to put together 6 or 7 in a row but keep in mind that we have yet to lose 3 in a row i believe this season!

You're right, Ronny, we haven't. The key seems to be winning the first game of a series. When we've won the first game of a series, we've gone onto win every series except for one (when we split the two game set against the Rockies). When we've lost the first game of a series, we've gone onto lose every series except for one (when we took two out of three from the Astros). I don't think this makes us streaky, but there's definitely a pattern to our success.

We will see we could be streaky but I think we will be just fine. Every team has ups and downs for a period of time. The question is are you more often on winning streaks then losing streaks.

And yes we have not lost 3 in a row which I think is a real big key to our success. It means you have never gotten swept at least in a traditional 3 game set and we have also helped ourselves by sweeping 3 series already they help make up for losing 4 series in a row.
